The land rush up north

Ever the optimists and keeping with their traditions . . . Local white folks move North in an attempt to continue avoiding minorities while annexing (stealing?) land along the way. Here's some of the damage reported by The Star: The population and development boom that began in the 1990s has Kansas City's northern suburbs and exurbs scrambling to annex county lands in hopes of securing tomorrow’s tax revenues.

No fewer than six Northland communities — Kearney and Liberty in Clay County and Platte City, Tracy, Weston and Riverside in Platte County — contemplated, initiated or completed annexations this year. Another, Parkville, doubled its size through annexation in 2001.
