Condo developers don't want to hear about a neighborhood association as they stake claim to the old Telephone Company Building

You heard right, the Condo craze has now spread to Independence Ave. in what seems a step backward given that street hookers aren't nearly as unsavory as real estate people. Still, it sounds like what they're building is a fortress and not a condo structure: "The variances being sought to move forward with the renovation of the 1906 Kansas City Home Telephone Company building are related to set-backs, fence heights and the overall height of a residential building." Therefore, I'm not sure it's a case of "here comes the neighborhood" but rather an urban outpost or stronghold where real estate people can hatch their next gentrification scheme.
