Thought for the Day: OJ Simpson isn't all that bad

I don't believe in righteous indignation because it assumes that anybody walking upright is righteous.

And as for all of the hoopla involving OJ, his interview and book and the media frenzy. Frankly, I was more offended in the case of Paul McCartney's divorce . . . I mean, here is a one legged broad who presented herself as sweet but it turns out she's just another money grubbing skank.

Ya know who else has one leg: Pirates.

But I digress . . .

My buddy B points me to a great argument by Judith Reagan who is publishing the book and doing the interview. She says:
"They have all but called for my death for publishing his book and for interviewing him. A death, I might add, not called for when Katie Couric interviewed him; not called for when Barbara Walters had an exclusive with the Menendez brothers, who killed their parents in cold blood, nor when she conducted her celebrated interviews with dictator Fidel Castro or Muammar al-Gaddafi; not called for when 60 Minutes interviewed Timothy McVeigh who murdered hundreds in Oklahoma City, not called for when the U.S. government released tapes of Osama bin Laden; not called for when Geraldo Rivera interviewed his dozens of murderers, miscreants, and deviants."
That makes a good point but here is a much more silly observation: Who cares?

The only thing I found interesting about the OJ case last time around was how mad the Not Guilty verdict made white folks. This time there is merely a violation of good taste which isn't that surprising coming from TV News. The thing I find really funny about all of this is the misconception that OJ is the only murderer walking the streets freely. That's just funny. Truth is, on any given day you might pass any number of potential killers from drunk drivers to SIDS faking Munchenhausen by Proxy moms. I've always thought that the thing which really upset people about OJ (other than interracial couples obviously) is that his story awoke all of us to the fact there is nowhere people can feel safe from a violent fate.

On a final note, there is not one fan of the KC Chiefs who could logically express any outrage over OJ's latest publicity stunt given the fact that last year's the Chiefs had a flurry of violent run-ins with the law and their ex-girlfriends and I didn't notice a drop in ticket sales.
