KCPD doesn't want anybody snitching on them OR is KCTV5 a "Cancer" in KC?

Welcome to the strange world of Internet rumor folks . . . Many thanks to local blogger Cara who had the guts to post this first (along with Landsberg at BLC): Apparently, KCTV5 is following cops around to see what they're up to . . . Obviously, local police don't like this . . . In retaliation/response/whatever there is a rumor that a member of the KCPD has decided to turn the tables on KCTV and claims to be setting up a message board where dirt on their employees will be posted.

Which can only mean that we'll soon find out who is the ghey are the local station.

Again, it's hard for me to get worked up about this one because the police have always seemed to fall on the "If you're aren't doing anything wrong then you have nothing to be afraid of" defense. However, even the craziest of crazy talk radio show hosts have begun to speak out on the tactics employed by KCTV5. BottomLine Communications has covered this topic (more thoroughly) than I have and recently reported on KCMO-710 morning talker Chris Stigall calling the local CBS affiliate "a cancer in the community."

I guess it would be nice if we lived in a world where spokesman for the police weren't hypocritical about personal liberty or where dirty rumors were fit to display on the web . . . But then, that would make television and the Internets horribly boring.

P.S. - I believe this rumor started on the Gateway City Message Boards where the alleged cop posted his first angry message. Ah, Gateway is so gully and the home of so much of this town's media gossip. Rock on
