I have a theory that once the general public becomes widely aware of something, it has already begun its downward slide. This is true of bands, athletes, fashions and blogs. Luckily, it seems that the same principle holds true with La Cosa Nostra given that The Godfather, Goodfellas and The Sopranos are now more widely knows as integral parts of the cultural lexicon rather than representations of any authentic versions of reality . . . Very much like a Three 6 Mafia video.
The upshot of the demise of "our thing" in KC means that we're no longer obligated to suffer under the reign of Italian-American politicians. Word to Giuliani. The ward bosses have been replaced with Pat Gray, Steve Glorioso, big money donors and misleading TV commercials.
Thusly, I think it's good news that JJ Rizzo failed to pull of his "Bush 2000 style coup" against Missouri Rep. John Burnett.
Sadly, The Pitch wrote the cutesy Italian guy a love letter before the election but failed to mention the guy's ugly family history. Obviously, good looks weren't enough to get into office. For the record: Connected > Cute.
And that's a big "pissed off tiger in a Siegfried and Roy show" no homo for noticing a dude's looks.
No homo tally for today: 7 and counting. Record: 28.
