Apparently, smoking causes stupidity as well: Overland Park police told KCTV5 News that Anthony Davis stole seven cartons of cigarettes early Wednesday morning from the Quiktrip at West 107th Street and Roe Avenue.
The clerk recognized him and was able to alert police, but not before he got away, police said.
Funny story from my teenage days (about twelve years ago): I worked at the 23rd street Dillons in Lawrence. Some guy stole five cartons of smokes and ran out of the store. Our "security guard" -- who was wearing a track suit, like some kleptocrat Eastern European mayor of Douchebaggistan, and always used to brag about his "catches" -- gave chase, and as soon as he got out in the parking lot he got cold-cocked by the thief.
