Modern technology is wonderful. Once we dreamed of the days when we'd have flying cars or robot hookers and now we live in an age where an (unreliable) software program does the job of a parent (poorly). We all know that Internet filters are unreliable and lame but today Boing Boing posts that they also prevent access to a local library.
For instance, one filtering program, SurfWatch, blocked the University of Kansas's Archie R. Dykes Medical Library website upon detecting the word "dykes."I guess preventing your children from looking at boobies is far more important than encouraging them to undertake medical study. Thank heaven that computers can save the time you once wasted talking to your children and they finally prove useful for something other than arranging illicit meetings with minors.
P.S. - Is anybody else out there going to be watching a bunch of stupid pervs get busted on Dateline tonight? I'm going to make a night of it and maybe microwave some popcorn and put on my sweatpants so that my roaring belly laughs will not be encumbered.
Tony,
ReplyDeleteI prefer to watch the local perverts get busted on KCTV 5. Just in case I know one(many) of them I can point at them and shout "PERVERT, PERVERT, PREVERT" and then run away.
Plus LOST is on are you stupid?
Peace Out Vato!
