This sounds pretty cool if your idea of art is something other than the stuff you "read" that comes in brown paper bag.
Join the Downtown Council, 360 Architecture and DST for a street party at 12th & Central, from 5- 7 pm, Thursday May 18, to kick off the Avenue of the Arts 2006 installation.
The goal of the program is to encourage locals and visitors to stroll down the street and enjoy street-level outdoor art installations from May through September each year. "Avenue of the Arts is about experiencing art as you walk or drive down the street. It's not in a museum or gallery, we want the public to enjoy a variety of local talent," said Jim Calcara, a principal at 360 Architecture. 360 Architecture is the founding sponsor of the annual exhibit. The selected artists for 2006 are: Miki Baird, Susan White, Jorge Garcia Margaret & Rolf Brommelsiek, Milton F. Stevenson, V Julia Cole/Leigh Rosser.
Who buys "art" in a brown pape bag any more? I just get it from here anyway.
ReplyDeleteThat avenue of the arts goes nowhere. Dead ends at each end. Should be on Baltimore or on Southwest Boulevard instead on some street people only find accidentally.
