A question for the ages

The blogger behind 'What the Deuce?' wonders who thought up a poorly scheduled drinking event.

Q. Who plans a pub crawl on a fucking Thursday night?
A. Dumb shits from Waldo that's who.

I agree, this event doesn't sound like the best of times but the old adage that keeps alcoholics and liquor stores in business is: It's 5 p.m. somewhere. Also, drunks rarely need an excuse to start drinking. There are also a few other great musings in this post that happen to be much more insightful than what you might hear from a barfly . . . And at the very least you don't have leave the blog like you would a nightclub; smelling like smoke and wondering what nasty things you accidentally touched on the restroom door handle.

  1. For whatever reason Thursday is the biggest drinking night among all the ad agencies around town. Many of the bars are packed on Thursday nights with ad execs, project managers, creatives, etc.

  2. All I am saying is they would make more money (for the charity) if they scheduled it on a Friday or Saturday?

  3. Friday and Saturday nights are for amatuers. That's why all the DUI Checkpoints are out on these nights.
Professional boozers know that Sundays and Monday nights are best, with Tuesdays, Wednesdays coming up next. Thursday night is a good compromise for drinkers and non-drinkers while minimizing the DUI risk.

  4. That's true! Tuesday is my biggest night for drinking, followed Thursday, then Wednesday. On the weekends I'm actually usually fairly dry.

Wednesday is actually a good night to be out. Lots going on but not a lot of crowds.

  5. I have a long-time policy of only drinking on days that end with a "Y".
