KC is so fucking corrupt it makes me sad

Here we go again. If at first billionaires don't succeed then they try again and again until voter apathy wins the day along with a brainwashing media blitz. Voters of this town will once again be forced to tell the Chiefs NO regarding their stupid rolling roof designs. It's pretty much the same proposal but I can only hope that they change the lame covered wagon design.
In April, voters defeated a plan that would have put a $200 million movable roof over Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums. About $170 million of that would have been generated by a new use tax, paid mostly by businesses. The rest would have come from the Chiefs and the sale of naming rights.
County Legislator Dennis Waits gets the blame for reintroducing this pig to the public. But it's important to remember that so many public officials, business leaders and this town's paper of record bent over backwards to push this thing through last time and will most likely do so again. It's just so disappointing that this issue is back once more to remind everybody in Kansas City that it's really sweet, sweet construction money that makes the world turn for politicos. Clearly, their interests run in direct opposition to the majority of (broke ass) citizens of Jackson County who will ultimately be forced to pick up the tab so that billionaires can make more money and the people of Johnson County will have an even nicer venue for their entertainment.

  1. I agree with you! I kinda want the Chiefs to pull and play the "Well we're going to leave KC then" card, because I don't like those losers!

Want want want that is all the NFL teams do. If they wouldn't pay those cry baby pussies a galzillion dollars a year to play the game then maybe they could build their own stadiums.

What I would really like to see is someone private build a stadium, and then invite a team to play in it but on the stadiums rule. Then charge 10 bucks a ticket for a seat and hot dogs $1.50 and 3.00 beers. Oh and free parking. That way they have to make up ALL of their money either on Volume, or Merchandising.

  2. To be precise, the new proposal is a fixed retractable roof that would sit over just Arrowhead, not the rolling roof (that could cover either stadium) that was voted down.

  3. I agree. Its ridiculous we even pay for any of it in the first place.

  4. I've said it before and I'll say it again (mainly because at my age I'm starting to forget that I've already said stuff).

But if the Chiefs want a fucking roof so bad, why doesn't Lamar just get out his fucking checkbook and buy the sonofabitch? He's got more money than God! And at his age there's no way he can spend it all before he dies!

Besides, he can recoup the money by charging all those Johnson County dickwads a "Warm Dry Ass Surcharge" when they pay for their season tickets! Or take it out of the player's salaries. Add it on to the Network Broadcast fees.

Let the people who are benefitting from the roof pay for the Goddamn thing.

Why should people who don't even have a roof have to pony up for a roof over a stadium that they can't afford to go to everytime they panhandle enough change for a banana and a cup of coffee?

  5. And how many times did we vote against riverboat gambling? Can someone remind me? I do know how many times we voted for it, though. And unfortunately, that's the only one that mattered.

  6. Apparently, the voters saying "no" just wasn't good enough for them.

If this thing gets on the ballot, I'll make it my lifes work from now until August to get it defeated.

In other words, it is so fucking on ...

  7. Actually, it is EXACTLY the same proposal that was voted down. The Chiefs have said that they would "explore" a retractable roof over Arrowhead, but for now, it's the rolling potato chip again. Funny, the Star ran an unsigned editorial opposing it...weren't they the ones who were the big RAH-RAH boys on the last one (Superbowl, All-Star Game, NCAA Finals, etc)???

  8. The KC Star today said that the Chiefs need to foot more of the bill.
