The Incredible Shrinking Star

The Star's new look gets a lukewarm reaction from local bloggers. Local blog Happy in Bag calls it "Smaller. Sillier. Shoddier."

I don't know what to think of it but I'm sure that pets all over the city still find it useful.

Really, I once looked up to journalism as some kind of noble profession but after The Star's season of PR sponsorship of the Stadium issue I really just think that everything that comes out of that paper is somehow slanted toward the interests of people or a cause of which I'm not even aware. I knew a little bit about the Stadium issue so I knew they were being disingenuous and one-sided but there are so many things that I have no clue about and I no longer trust The Star to be even the slightest bit objective or even handed. While I expect that from a blog, look for it even, it's simply a sad state of affairs for a place that's supposed to be this town's paper of record.

So good luck to them as they rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic otherwise known as print media.

  1. They are a gutsy bunch to the last, as they line up to kiss Kathryn Shields' ass, promote any and all tax hikes for KCMO, and throw softballs to Johnson County. My two alltime favorite Star moment was when they awarded Leawood, Ks. #2 on best suburb, and noted that the Leawood Police are "aggressive in enforcing laws and keeping the city safe." More code words there than a Tom Clancy novel.
