The Dinosaurs Honor Their Own

Editor & Publisher describes itself as "America's Oldest Journal Covering the Newspaper Industry" and they have recently seen fit to bestow their blessing on my sworn enemy Greg Reeves.

The Star gives their favorite employee a plug today as well with a big ass photo and a smallish interview with the author of the splog. Here's a taste:
"Dialogue and interactivity are crucial to the blog, but the blog itself is the day's crime news first and crime-related news with an attitude second," Reeves said Friday. "I love writing Crime Scene KC, and I hope it continues to be an active and constructive community dialogue."
I have no idea what he's talking about since the guy deletes most of my comments. Still, I guess it's a nice gesture considering that rumors abound that layoffs AND A LOT OF THEM are coming at The Star. It's a dubious honor if you ask me (jealous) because if your failing industry is telling you that you're doing something right it's only because you are following them into oblivion. In my opinion, it's the equivalent of your mother telling you that you're good looking.

Sour grapes? Obviously. There is supposed to be some camaraderie among bloggers but I think that kind of thing ends behind the cold glass walls of this town's corporate rag especially since few if any newspapers hire minorities at any significant level and The Star hasn't been very supportive of this town's other blogs in the least.
