When discussing the print media there is a temptation to use terms like "community journalism" and similar nonsense but at the end of the day it's a business. A business that The Star seems to be running poorly. Recent problems with their webpage, their poorly received entry into the local blogosphere (I think CrimeScene KC has about one link from all of the locals combined) and now their ridiculous online advertising which makes it almost unbearable to look at their page have all demonstrated that Kansas City's paper of record is absolutely clueless regarding their web strategy.
I could offer some help but I doubt they would take it and it's going to be kind of fun to watch as their parent company will inevitably sell them off and they will ultimately end up as merely a shell former selves bitterly clinging onto their glory days like an old prize fighter or JoCo housewife who just turned 30.
