Lawrence blog "Thoughts from Kansas" shares some insight into the Taff case:
Taff used campaign funds as collateral for a loan on a home he couldn't afford. There's something allegorical about that. Dennis Moore, like the Democratic Party, is fighting to cut deficits, while Taff, and the Republican Party, are spending money they don't have and taking it from their supporters. And while I agree that Taff's story is strikingly similar to many JoCo scumbags living beyond their means I don't think Moore is much better. His limp opposition to the War in Iraq and tap dancing with the chronically corrupt Rev. Cleaver provides reason enough not to like him. Additionally, his greatest achievement as a Congressman seems to be getting re-elected.
While I have no argument that JoCo is corrupt and slimy, I'd like to add impotent and ineffectual to the list as well. Clearly, no matter how you vote there is someone equally offensive on either side of the party lines. By the way, Kris Kobach is still a dirtbag.
