David Smith scandal almost cleaned up

In the most clear cut case of bigotry this town has ever seen School Board President David Smith was FOUND GUILTY of unfairly firing one of his employees at The Kansas City Boys and Girls Clubs after she complained that his hiring practices were discriminatory.

As a response to the GUILTY VERDICT not only did prominent members of the Black community throw their support behind Smith but The Star also backed up the School Board official with a glowing editorial and the work of reporters who attempted to retry the case in the pages of this town's only daily paper.

Thankfully, KC Currents offers an alternative record of the Smith debacle so that future generations will know that this case is yet another example of how the Civil Rights Movement only served to advance Black people (which is fine but let's at least be honest) and notions of equality and diversity are simply fantasies uttered for popularity and political gain.
