I like the fact that I'm the craziest person with whom I work. It's far better to give people headaches than to receive them. Writing is a weird racket in that even on my worst days there's really no one I can hurt with a misspelled word or an awkward phrase. And while I'm doing my best, I doubt that anything I type will ever result in permanent injury.
The same is not true in nursing.
The author of local blog "General Blather" recounts a frightening night in the psyche ward with a crazy bastard shouting "I'm going to kill a nurse!" to welcome her. It's an amazing post and it probably puts your hardest day at the office in perspective. That is, unless your job involves yelling stupid things and scaring the shit out of people and in that case I've heard that the perks that go along with being a Jackson County official are well worth it.
