The Star: KC murders linked to poverty

The Star reports that poor neighborhoods are a good place to get killed and that most murder victims are single, unemployed (and probably Black). Apparently, hobo life is not as happy, carefree and full of singing as I was first led to believe. That sucks because I just bought a harmonica.

Anyway, the best way to avoid being a victim of violence is not to be poor. Figure that one out for yourself as the Star does its best not to mention the Black community's principal role in the city's murder rate drama. Sure there are a lot of poor Black people but there are also tons of poor Mexicans and Viet Cong in this town who haven't been offing themselves like it's going out of style. Until this city is honest about where the overwhelming majority of homicides are coming from and who they are effecting than this commission is nothing more than a worthless PR gesture.
