The start of this work week in Kansas City proved exceptionally violent with two seperate double shootings killing two people in total.
We blogged the first deadly altercation earlier in the day and the second came late at night with info coming through early this morning.
Here is the first report . . .
Homicide 55th and South Benton
Last night (09-03-24) at 11:30pm officers were on patrol in the area of 55th and Prospect when they heard the sound of gunfire to their east across the highway.
The officers immediately responded to that area to investigate.
At 55th and South Benton the officers located two shooting victims, one adult male and one adult female.
Officers rendered aid and called for EMS. EMS transported both victims to the hospital.
The adult female victim is being treated for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The adult male victim had more serious injuries. Medical staff ultimately declared him deceased at the hospital at approximately 1am on today’s date.
Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for witnesses.
If anyone heard or saw anything in this area or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
