Longtime neighborhood resident Chris D. says over the years, he’s seen home break-ins, car break-ins, thefts, porch pirates, and dangerous speeding with little to no police patrol.

The Kansas City Police Department is currently down to about 1080 officers, more than 300 positions fewer than their high of 1412.

KCPD detectives and representatives of the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office met with Kansas City residents last Wednesday to discuss what KCPD characterizes as an increase in property crimes and how to prevent them.
