Northeast News Publishes 'Immigration Advocacy' After Nonprofit Takeover

Of course . . . Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But  . . . C'mon, man.

Over the past 20 years the Northeast News garnered a sizable readership because they represented a moderate viewpoint of neighbors willing to invest and/or sustain the urban core. Some old-school Democratic Party denizens and a smattering of Republicans attempted to support the paper . .  But most of the readership was concerned with crime, political representation and local issues . . . And they didn't rely on the smallish weekly paper to keep up with progressive advocacy.

However . . . That model was NEVER consistently profitable.

Recently . . .

The newspaper switched to a nonprofit model to sustain their operations, there was a leadership change and NOW their content more accurately reflects the viewpoint of the governing board and not departed editorial staffers who had made a name for themselves by calling out and delivering info regarding local elected leaders and often egregious neighborhood issues . . . Here's a quote as an example of the new direction the paper has taken . . .

"Immigration has occurred within the U.S. and around the world for centuries — including the Northeast region of Kansas City."

Um, okay . . . That's cool.

What might be more interesting is whether or not anybody is going to pick up a copy or click on that kind of reporting.
