Show-Me Special Session Tax Cut Support?!?

It has been a minute since we've heard from our 2nd favorite tax fighters.

Here's what they have to say about a Missouri political showdown betwixt factions of the GOP . . .

Special Session Is an Opportunity Lawmakers Should Not Miss

More Money in their Pockets Will Provide Much-needed Relief to Struggling Missouri Families

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – This week, the Missouri Legislature began a special session to consider rate reductions to Missouri’s income tax.

Governor Parson and the legislative leadership are considering accelerating already-planned rate reductions by cutting the Missouri income tax rate from 5.3 percent to 4.8 percent.

It would better for Missourians if lawmakers were to push further past 4.8 percent. They should also pursue subsidy reductions and other tax and spending reforms to ensure the stability of Missouri finances for vital public services.

"At a time of high inflation and labor shortages, putting Missouri on a faster growth track through pro-growth, pro-work, pro-investment income-tax reductions could not be more appropriate." Show-Me Institute Chief Economist Dr. Aaron Hedlund said. " Tax reform signals that Missouri is open for business."

"However you measure it, Missouri has not been growing compared to other states." Show-Me Institute CEO Brenda Talent said. "If the Governor and legislature succeed in passing meaningful tax rate reductions along with other reforms to our income-tax system, they will increase opportunities for all Missourians."

The legislature is set to resume the special session next week.
