Rigged Subreddit Provides Earned Media For Despised Kansas City Council Dude Bunch

Today we notice a nice bit of Kansas City old school lazy politicking with a new social media spin.

Let's have fun unpacking it . . .

Our progressive friends want to support council dude Eric Bunch but the fact is that most voters in Kansas City simply don't like the dude.

And so . . .

They turn to a subreddit that's kinda cool, has a few fun items that we steal borrow from time to time but is mostly dominated by the bike supremacy cabal.

Conservatives and crackpots alike have been shut out of the group that's quasi-public and provides some pretty decent numbers for the silly, silly people who take Internets stats at face value.

There are 10 GAZILLION members . . . Unpaid of course but just hoping for some ad revenue.

Anyooo . . .

Today public radio hipsters want to give their craft beer friends a push . . . And so they're featuring the embattled council dude who hopes to win reelection by way of progressive media support.

A TKC FACT CHECK . . .

This is all hilarious because in-district contests are won and lost BY WAY OF GROUND GAME & STREET LEVEL POLITICS.

People who get out there, knock doors, go to meetings and take a horrific amount of abuse will likely win. There's just no getting around the brutal requirement of MEETING VOTERS FACE TO FACE.

If council ends the At-Large seats . . . More politicos will have to do this and that's a probably a good thing.

Meanwhile . . .

This report smells like a political scheme cooked up with the help of professor Steve Kraske during one of his 3 hour coffee breaks . . .

And so we check a report about Kansas City hipsters too scared to cross the street .  . .

In late August, a user on the Kansas City subreddit asked the simple question: “What is the most cursed intersection in Kansas City?” The thread quickly became a pile-on. Redditors pointed out more than 40 “cursed” locations within the metro, complaining about a lack of safe crosswalks, confusing lanes, prohibited left turns and the tendency of drivers to speed through without caution.

From Southwest Trafficway to Van Brunt Boulevard, Kansas City's streets are confusing to navigate and dangerous for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists alike. The city is working to fix the worst, but there are too many to tackle all at once.
