Kansas City 2022 Homicide #71: Woman Shot Dead This Morning

Today we start the news cycle with a tragic reminder that more women are falling victim to the recent uptick in deadly violence. 

Over the past few days there has been a decline in deadly shooting reports but an uptick urban gunfire and the arrival of an exceptionally hot Summer threatens to spike numbers again.

Right now, compared to this date on the calendar last year, we remain one homicide ahead of last year's tragic homicide pace — the second highest total in Kansas City's history.

Here is the first report regarding a deadly shooting to start this week . . . 

Homicide 2600 block of Cypress

This morning just after 3:15am officers were called to a shooting in the 2600 block of Cypress Avenue.  Upon arrival they located the victim, an adult female, inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers began performing life saving measures until EMS arrived.  EMS took over those life saving measures, however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for any any potential witnesses.

Woman shot and killed early Monday morning in Kansas City

A woman was shot and killed at a home on Cypress Avenue early Monday morning, according to Kansas City Police.Police were called to the home around 3:15 a.m. in the 2600 block of Cypress Avenue, near 26th Street. There, officers found the woman, who had been shot multiple times.
