RIVERSIDE, Mo. - The Riverside, Missouri Police Department is investigating after a body was discovered in a creek Monday night. Officers responded to Homestead Park near NW Homestead Road and NW Homestead Terrace just after 7 p.m. after children reported finding a dead body and informed their parents.


Metro Squad helping Mission police investigate after 2 teens shot, 1 fatally

Police in Mission, Kansas are investigating a shooting that left a teen dead and put another in the hospital. The shooting happened Sunday night near an apartment complex near 51st Street and Foxridge Drive.Police said that it was a 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed. A 13-year-old girl was also shot.


Topeka woman fatally shot on I-70, man arrested

DICKINSON COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) - A woman who was shot while driving west on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County has died. The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office said Samantha E. Baum, 27, of Topeka, arrived at the Dollar General in Solomon around 9 p.m. Sunday. The store is just off the I-70 exit.


Nine new lawsuits allege torture, starvation and other abuse at Missouri boarding school

Nine new lawsuits have been filed alleging abuse at a southwest Missouri boarding school where five staffers are facing criminal charges for assaulting students. The civil suits were filed by former students from California to Massachusetts who attended Agape Boarding School in Stockton from March 2015 through June 2019.


Investigators think missing Kansas man was murdered

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The family of a Kansas man is desperate to know what happened to him. Detreck Foster of Independence was last seen two years ago this week. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Independence Police Department are using the anniversary of his disappearance to remind people they need help to solve the case.


'My prayers have been answered': Keith Carnes speaks after being released from prison

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Keith Carnes said "a chill went up his back" when he received the news of a habeas corpus petition issued by Missouri Supreme Court. The order, which was issued last week , cleared the way for Carnes to be freed from prison, unless the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office chose to retry his case.

For the first time in almost 20 years, Keith Carnes is breathing fresh air as a free man.Carnes was released from prison Monday after serving time for the 2003 murder of Larry White, a murder Carnes said he did not commit.
