Kansas City Defund Fight Cont'd Whilst Metro Voters Support Police

Amid rampant culture war and partisan slap fighting, there was a more important issue decided by the local electorate last night.

For those who missed it . . .

METRO VOTERS APPROVED MORE CASH FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT WHILST KANSAS CITY 'DEFUND POLICE' EFFORTS PERSIST!!!

Here's the info that was downplayed or overlooked . . .

"The Independence Police Department received clearance from voters to spend the roughly $3 million it receives from a use tax passed in 2019 to hire new officers, buy equipment and other departmental expenses."

This is important because more than any other metro city . . . Independence, MO has consistently complained about "crime displacement" from Kansas City.

On the nice side of the bridge, this news was also overlooked . . .

According to uncertified election results from Clay County Election Board, with 81 precincts reporting as of 9 p.m. Tuesday, Prop A, the sheriff’s office tax renewal effort, overwhelmingly passed with more than 77% of the 10,226 votes cast.

What can we infer from the data . . .

THE 'DEFUND POLICE' MOVEMENT FAILED AT THE BALLOT BOX IN THE KANSAS CITY METRO!!!

The HUGE margin of victory should assuage any concerns that this endorsement of police is merely a suburban phenomena. Moreover, the electorate of both Clay County and Independence grow increasingly diverse every day.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes Kansas City preps for yet another budget battle with police after Mayor Q LOST an important case in his misguided effort to "reallocate" 42 MILLION bucks to a slush fund with absolutely no oversight or deets.

Accordingly, we note . . .

The votes are in . . . Neighborhoods and people who actually bother to vote have spoken and THEY SUPPORT POLICE.

This ain't rocket science and it should be a lesson that's simple to calculate and understand.

Sadly, so many among the Kansas City chattering class have confused cable news blather and "social justice" university lectures for real life.

Meanwhile . . .

The people who live and work in the metro want police to have more cash as violent crime numbers across the nation continue to spike.

And so . . .

We share this data NOT TO GLOAT but in order to help leaders, readers and all manner of denizens of the cowtown discourse UNDERSTAND THIS REAL LIFE LOCAL ELECTION CASE STUDY which contradicts the overwhelming majority anti-police rhetoric witnessed via traditional media and online.
