Over the past 48 hours activist group KC Tenants have been showing off their "greatest hits" and flexing their activism that chained courthouse doors and shut down eviction proceedings in Kansas City.

Similar political gestures have been commonplace across the nation and today the tactics proved successful as Prez Bidens grants renters more time before evictions restart.

The Biden administration on Tuesday announced a new ban on evictions for many renters just days after the White House allowed a nationwide moratorium to expire on Saturday, infuriating progressive House Democrats who warned that millions of Americans could lose their homes.


The CDC extending the federal eviction moratorium is expected to help about 90% of renters

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Tuesday it will extend the federal eviction moratorium through October 3, 2021 after the ban lapsed over the weekend. The announcement comes after pressure from House Democrats including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo.


CDC announces limited, targeted eviction moratorium until early October

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday issued a fresh stop on certain evictions Tuesday, saying that evicting people could be detrimental to public health and would interfere with efforts to slow the pandemic.
