NATIONWIDE 'POLICE REFORM' PUSH THREATENS KCPD STATUS QUO!?!

In the next few days we'll see if Kansas City po-po will be able to effectively manage demands for policing change that have resonated across the nation following the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd.

In the grand scheme of things it's always important to realize that the fundemental truths which we hold dear only serve as the punchline to cruel jokes by strangers. Accordingly . . . Here's our contribution of journalistic objectivity in the midst of amateur Pavlovian political instincts promulgated by nearly identical conservative/progressive social media factions . . .

Watch KCPD work diligently to co-opt protest and lead "reform" efforts in order to cling to the current administration and thwart a council takeover. So far their efforts seem to be successful.

To be fair, maintaining the KCPD status quo is probably in the best interest of Kansas City overall given that city hall control has ruined the water department, local streets and nearly everything directly managed 12th & Oak.

For the most part, elected leaders and activists are greedy, weak and don't really represent anyone outside of a very smallish circle of influence. So it's fair to be skeptical of their "demands" on any given topic.

Nevertheless . . .

An unfortunate shooting, arrest or social media video could change everything.

More to the point . . .

PREZ BIDEN PRESSES FOR POLICE REFORM WHICH THREATENS TO FUNDAMENTALLY TRANSFORM LAW ENFORCEMENT IN KANSAS CITY & ACROSS THE NATION!!!

Again, in fairness, it would be myopic to believe that the Commander-In-Chief doesn't have a great deal of support for the progressive changes pending.

Accordingly, we share this volley of news links that offer lesser reporting of a local policing crisis that seems to be fading for the moment . . .

Reuters: Bipartisan group of senators presses forward on U.S. policing reform talks

Fox News: Biden DOJ's police reform agenda 'dangerous': law enforcement advocates

KCTV5: Two moms devastated by police shootings say change is coming

KMBC: Kansas City police Chief Rick Smith talks about police department changes

Fox4: Following verdict in Chauvin case, activists push for more police reform in Kansas City metro

  10. There's a whole lot of pandering, speechifying, and cowardly politicos making believe they're weighing in with the mob.
But there are around 18,000 local police departments throughout the country and any legislation passed at the federal level has very little operational effect except to try to withhold grant money if certain parameters aren't met.
The vast majority of police throughout the country were as appalled and angry at what took place in Minneapolis as most everyone else and it certainly shouldn't reflect on how most of them do their duty each and every day.
And the "demands" coming from clueless woke college kids, "activists", anti-police groups, and uninformed others are so completely off the wall, impractical, and downright dangerous to public safety, any chance these groups might have had in making serious thoughtful recommendations is pretty well gone.
"Demand" everything and get pretty much nothing.
    To the barricades!

  11. Democrats are f’ed in the next election cycle. They are trying to destroy as much as they can, in a short time as possible. Moderate Democrats see it. This crew of shallow virtue signalers are killing the party as they kill their voter base.

  12. Well, you chucklowes have had a pretty thrilling day here haven't you? You've used every racist slur in the book, trotted out every FoxNewsMax talking point there is and repeated it endlessly, sang your false unproven claims about the 2020 election again and again, insulted the living and the dead but in the end only came across as the knuckledragging mouthbreathing morons you are. But Tucker Carlson is on so maybe you should masturbate to him and go to sleep: little man you've had a busy day.

Well done, Tony. Great site you got here. Sort of like a dumb version of stormfront.

  15. The Libtards are overplaying their hands with their destruction of once-great American cities and traditions. Packing the court, turning D.C. into a state, defunding the police, removing any real borders to our country, killing the oil and gas industry, and taxing working people into poverty to help illegals and people who don't want to work. It's all madness.

The KCPD should change with the times. If they don't support accountability, then it is time to switch their government structure. If you really look at what is happening beyond the red brick you'll see that they are doing a good job in listening to the public and acting accordingly. Not all protesters are enemies and neither up police. The best of all of us just want to keep our community safe.

    1. You don’t even know what the fuck you mean by ‘accountability’ or you’d be telling that to the BLM crowd. Idiot.

It's unclear what "changing with the times" means in this case, except the fact that the violence and homicides on KCMO's east side has continued to increase year after year without any "accountability" fromc "leaders" in the black community or efforts by residents who live there.
There always seem to be excuses for not doing something yourself and blaming everything and everyone else for your problems.
None of which are the fault of the police or have much of anything to do with their policies or procedures.
Every proposal is coming from just one side of the equation of public safety, which takes both the community and the police to seriously and effectively address.
The coming police body cameras will show just what the cops are up against each and every day.

  25. KCPD has accountability. It is just to the people and not to the grifters and the race-hustlers that control 12th and Oak. They are the ones who lack accountability and will continue to until the voters of KC drop their apathy and start voting in mature people who can take responsibility.

  27. "The KCPD should change with the times. If they don't support accountability, then it is time to switch their government structure." Your use of buzz words is too vague, Brookside Bob. Tell us what you mean by accountability in concrete terms, and specify what changes KCPD would have to make to get there.

If it involves giving a bunch of race baiting reverends and BLM activists the power to second guess the police, don't bother, because that's not accountability, that's stupidity.

  28. The real story in Columbus, Ohio, is what a hero the police officer is. In a split second, full of adrenaline and stress he pulled off an expert level crack shot saving a girls life from a maniac that was in mid- downward stroke with a butcher knife. In one blink of an eye the innocent girl was going to be stabbed. The officers skills were incredible and that girl will live her life grateful for him.

Sadly I doubt he will be rewarded for his actions of which he righteously deserves to be

  29. All this while NBA ratings are taking a drubbing. Thanks, stupid LeBron, and you race-baiting ignorance. If the girl with the knife were white in Columbus, I'm sure you'd want to give the police officer a medal for saving a black girl's life. That's how sick you are.

  31. These comments make me laugh because none of the authors would ever have the nerve to swear the oath, pin on the badge, and carry a gun. Today's law enforcement has received more required training and more continuing training than most every profession in history. Yet, everyone who has never had the courage to walk in their boots knows how to do their job better than those who have received the training. It amazes me that society has now made one of the most honorable professions in history the most hated. Criminals are now innocent even when their felonious acts are caught on video.
