Bike/Walk KC Demands COVID Budget Cash

Over the past couple of weeks we've seen cycling and bike lanes PROVE ABSOLUTELY USELESS FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

However, as the weather thaws local activist hacks hope to fool council into believing that blighting local parkways with bike lanes helps po'folk. It doesn't and mostly serves as a faux urbanism scam for cowtown hipsters.

Here's they're side of the story . . .

Speak up for active transportation in the next KCMO budget

The city budget is the central document which dictates how much money the city spends and for what purposes. Each year, the City Council releases a proposed budget for the upcoming year. This year's budget covers the fiscal year from May 2021 through April 2022.

  5. I Like the picture showing the Main Street max but at grand and 12th, the max was of course formerly just the venerable 56 route, but add fifty million federal dollars and paint the buses red and divert them onto Grand so the stupidity of the streetcar less palpably obvious, and re christen it “the Main Street max”. It is stopped at one of the stupid built-up bus stops with road narrowing high curbs and silly litter and weed traps aka flower garden fencing. They did the same with the 71. Look at all the ridiculous expensive “complete streets” build-ups along 11th and 12th street for this, most stupidly at the commerce bank on Charlotte, my god look at that stupid thing.

  8. The bike lane on Gilliam got plowed. I've been riding it.

I don't have any illusions we will get more bike lanes or anything else until they fix the streets first. The money just isn't there.

The Grand Street bike lanes are almost faded into the pavement now. They can't even keep that up.

Yet I ride a bike. I just hope you fat fucks stay 3 feet away when you pass.

Re Gilliam lanes with hundreds of concrete parking logs (!!??j laid down between Linwood and brush creek ....
Do you really like that better than how it was before?seriously? I don’t. Gilman has always been a great rip and those lanes make the road narrower and are pointless

Re your three feet of leeway comment. Yes precisely this sir!!! Motorists may not be able to give us that much room bc the road is artificially narrowed to fulfill a “ complete street” objectives that bike KC promotes. These narrowed intersections are incredible dangerous to negotiate, a bike and a car at the same time.

If you are a person who really rides in the city, as I do, you would agree with me that smooth wide roads are good, right? Because bike KC wants to narrow our roads and make intersections suicide for real city bicyclists, high curbs everywhere in these “placemaking” streetsscape fads which proliferate

  10. Bike Walk KC is a cult. Lots of bike lanes coming to midtown through Councilman Bunch manipulating the finances of the Public Works Department.

The Bike KC has good intentions. I suspect when you get "enthusiasts" together to map out the future bike lanes there is a sense of validation that takes place. In other words, when a simple painted bike lane is needed, they will come up with an entire intersection redesign because one of them saw this done in another city. Costs be damned.
