KANSAS CITY FEARS NEW CITY MANAGER 'HATCHET MAN' TARGETING WORKERS AS COVID-19 BUDGET CRISIS WORSENS!!!
The sordid reputation of new city manager Brian Platt has sparked fear in the urban core and among beleaguered workers at 12th & Oak.
Remember just a few days ago the Wall Street Journal warned of an impending budget crisis.
Now . . .
FEAR OF MASSIVE LAYOFFS AMID A BUSTED BUDGET THREATENS CITY HALL!!!
The outcry is more than just gossip and comes with documentation.
In a dramatic presentation of a lawsuit, KC Call managing editor Eric Wesson shared first news of employee complaints against Mr. Platt on KCPT.
Pick up the latest issue of The Call to read the scathing feature in its entirety.
The legal complaints against the former Jersey City honcho are varied but mostly focus on allegations of poor oversight, age & racial discrimination and sketchy employee transfers. As city hall workers are reeling from recent furloughs, the threat of more cutbacks loom large.
Moreover, the question that has dominated the discourse among city hall workers . . .
HOW WILL THE NEW CITY MANAGER JUSTIFY FIRING LOW END WORKERS WHEN HIS SALARY & BENEFITS TOTAL MORE THAN A QUARTER OF A MILLION BUCKS?!?
Cost cutting is never easy but The Call article accurately notes that the new 29th floor honcho has very few community ties and that might make cuts easier but will also power more extreme push back.
Accordingly . . .
There's no doubt the economic impact of COVID-19 will fundamentally transform local government but the process for making changes at the top levels has been compromised. Now, as the voting public grows increasingly divided and angry, local leaders have very little credibility to responsibly cut costs in order to avert financial disaster.
Developing . . .
KC needed to start making cuts 10 years ago. The pandemic just made a bad situation worse.
ReplyDelete^^^
Deleteprobably, but this means even worse service for KC residents. The outcome is not going to be pretty for people who want to live in a decent place.
^^^
DeleteLulz.
Kansas City stopped being a decent place years ago. Did you forget about those 168 murders?
More furloughs before Christmas.
ReplyDelete100 employee cuts minimum.
The carnage starts in Public Works.
For the rest of us, that means saving up for new tires. The streets are going to be hell in 2021.
^^^
Delete:(
I thought we had an endless supply of money. What happened?
ReplyDelete^^^
ReplyDeleteWait for the Biden stimulus. We'll be fine! Everything will be peachy?
Too bad KC doesn't meet the population goals to qualify.
Vote NO on earnings tax renewal.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don’t like Mayor Lucas or his politics but if he is responsible for hiring the guy who is hopefully going to bring some professionalism to the Work Force at City Hall, I’m all in. It’s tons of people working at City Hall collecting a check for doing absolutely nothing.. the Admin for Land Bank - that bat shit crazy bitch deserves to lose her job for really insubordinance and bad behavior but if budget cuts is a thing... that works too. Start with Capital Works and work through the City Manager’s office, Housing Director and get busy.
ReplyDelete^^^
DeleteIt would be nice if we could have money and get rid of some dead weight but you know that's not how it works.
The people with political connections will be spared and the layoffs & furloughs only apply to those with little to no power. You know, the people who actually do the work.
^^^Professionalism at City Hall. That's a good one!
ReplyDeleteCan we start with cutting Mayor Failboat's job?
ReplyDeleteClose City Hall, fire everyone and give us our money back!
ReplyDelete$250,000 is not out of line for this job.
ReplyDeleteHe will earn every penny and leave within 2 years in screaming frustration.
He'd better not drop his paycheck. It will bounce away!
ReplyDeleteToday's word is insolvent boys and girls.
ReplyDeleteWhat the city employees fail to realize is that they don't have real union protection for their jobs. Firefighters and police do because of strong unions. The dog catchers and water employees and sewer and trash collectors don't have the same clout as the fie and police guys do. I am sure they have some collective agreement but if the union is weak so is the agreement. Most of these people are grifters anyway. Five guys to a crew where one or two do all the work and three sleep in the truck just doesn't hack it. Then they don't go direct to the next job they have to stop at the QT or the liquor store first. How do they want it decided who goes and who stays? The City Manager works at the direction of the Mayor and Council to some extent and is actually the person in charge of getting everything done. He will survive and fake lawsuits by Eric Wesson, one of the city's worst journalists, not withstanding.
ReplyDeleteLaying off Whites is OK..but..cutting blacks....
ReplyDeleteRAAAAAAAAAACISM!!
lawsuits comin'
It's time to send them back to Africa.
ReplyDeleteThe water Department, one person standing in a hole .And ten people looking at him .COME ON MAN ..
ReplyDelete11:34 - What Services ?
ReplyDeleteYou could fire the whole city work force and no one would notice.
Kiss those fat pension plans goodbye.
ReplyDeleteThis city has been spending money it doesn't have like a drunken sailor, on bright, shiny non essential bullshit for years. No point listing 'em, you all know what they are.
The Call suit, of course, ignores the fact that the riots, and all the associated bs, added to the wasted millions in overtime for cops and firefighters, and is simply another in the endless pleas for money to be poured down the bottomless pit known as the "central core".
The only benefit I receive from the city is trash removal and water, and I have been boiling my drinking water for the last three years, after a "turbidity" warning. I simply don't trust the city anymore. Infrastructure maintanence and repair, let alone upgrade is a joke.
Thankfully, Clay and Platte Counties haven't had to worry (yet) about Frank's Jackson County's brand of fiascos.
The E-tax comes up for a vote soon, and after the recent election, I have absolutely no doubt the "livs" (low information voters) will again shoot themselves in the foot.
North of the river should secede from Mogadishu of the Plains and require special passports to cross the bridges.
^^TL/DR. Nobody has any kind of time for this shit. Do better.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's well-written English, and we know you struggle.
DeleteIn other words, it's not liberal bullshit so it has to be wrong.
ReplyDeletegood points, @1:40!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI would like to sniff that new City Manager's hair and feel his testicles !
China Joe Biden
Have an adult help you 1:45
ReplyDeleteIf that new City Manager young feller will massage my hairy old balls; I promise to release that stimulus money as soon as they get this fraudulent election figured out !
ReplyDeleteKamala said she would ride the Mayor like she did with Mayor Willie but then she was disappointed to find out the KC Mayor would prefer I ride him !!
China Joe Biden
There’s definitely excess in the management positions all over the city plus they only have to work a half day to get paid in full, they never have to use sick leave or vacation unless they take a week or more off. They receive huge payouts for accrued vacation and sick leave when they leave or retire.
ReplyDelete11:57 is right, they won’t go after the do nothing high paid positions because they are friends of someone on the clowncil or the mayor. You could get rid of 10 managers and keep the 100 low paid employees for the same money. I think all assistant to the city managers, directors make $176,000, deputy directors make around $150,000 I think. Your basic low level city employee makes about $30,000. Directors and their deputies don’t do shit for their depts except handle the budgets and really how long do you think they spend figuring that out, a couple months a year?
2:26 everybody look! The town idiot is back! Lmao!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean, back? Trump hasn't left yet.
DeleteI will feel you up after you get it cut off too!
ReplyDeleteBLM it takes a knee grow to screw up this bad.
ReplyDelete^^OK Boomer. Go watch Matlock.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteBiden will never be my President.
LETS ALL HOPE HE IS THE HATCHET MAN!!! He may be the ONE to get this city’s budget under control and stop frivolous spending such as bike lanes and 18th and vine !
ReplyDeleteAnd the toy train!
ReplyDeleteIf I was a bettin man, I'd say "Q" is fingerbangin' the new City Planner...........
ReplyDeleteAnd KCI!
ReplyDeleteAnd street painting!
ReplyDeleteAnd the zoo,
ReplyDeleteAnd Power & Light
ReplyDeleteI'll bet 3:11 would like to massage my low hanging testicles.
ReplyDeleteChina Joe Biden
3:11 - If you will change my Depends; I will send you an autographed Corn Pop poster !
ReplyDeleteChina Joe Biden
And yet, he still beat Trump. Weird.
DeleteChina joe is an illegitimate president.
ReplyDeleteHe’ll be impeached, forced to resign, arkansided, 25th amendment you name it, he ends up in prison by the end of 2021, he’s a waste a breath anyway you look at it, he won’t have time to be a president. The sad part is neither will commie Harris, the dimwit party will find a way to get rid of her no doubt about it.
3:54 he didn’t beat Trump...... yet. I guess you haven’t been watching the testimony about voter fraud from hundreds of witnesses have you? Oh that’s right, cnn and msdnc never covered any of it nor did they cover the biden crime family’s antics in the Ukraine, Russia or China. Don’t worry though, you’ll be finding all this out before you know it! Hahahahaha!
ReplyDelete^^^^ Oh bullshit!
ReplyDeleteYou don't believe one word you posted, you just sold your soul to a LOSER who you now realize doesn't give a shit about you or the Country, and you're trying to hide how stupidly gullible you are!
Stop talking about Obama!
Delete^^ The election was corrupt. Own it.
ReplyDeleteOn your lips sperm is glistening 4:14
ReplyDeletesuck it in while you're whistling 4:14
I saw Biden fondle Santa Claus
ReplyDeleteI don't get City services besides streets that don't get fixed and cops who don't show when I call. So, cut away!
ReplyDelete"Remember just a few days ago the Wall Street Journal warned of an impending budget crisis." Not surprising that we have to read about it in the WSJ and not the worthless Kansas City Star.
ReplyDelete"HOW WILL THE NEW CITY MANAGER JUSTIFY FIRING LOW END WORKERS WHEN HIS SALARY & BENEFITS TOTAL MORE THAN A QUARTER OF A MILLION BUCKS?!?"
ReplyDeleteThe new city manager is being paid to do make those tough calls. How much he makes vs. the person who gets laid off is irrelevant.
Mayor 10-10-10 hates to close businesses.
ReplyDeleteWhile that is a lie- he lets Casinos stay open past 10pm.
Mayor 10-10-10 has zero science to back him up - there is ZERO proof bars a d restaurants spread Covad-19.
Contact tracing nationally shows Dems have no idea what to do- they issue orders to close stuff a d then they go eat without masks.
Mayor 10-10-10 is a hypocrite as he was photographed with women he didn’t know with no masks on.
He is a Democratic Idiot... KC’s crown dunce.
Here is an idea:
Support a petition to change any mention of Covad-19 in KC.
It should be called Covad-10-10-10 in honor of Mayor 10-10-10... a la Quit-ton Lucas and his equally idiot science-fiction health advisor
Wrecks Archer.
So this is how the boy blunder eliminates all white people from working for the city.
ReplyDeleteFinally!! Let the cuts begin throughout the massive "do nothing"administrative layers of City Hall. The financial crisis is the legacy of the last Budget Director promoted up to City Manager.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet 400 workers could receive $250,ooo a year and equal what you gave one Football player to play here. Weird
ReplyDeleteThe new City Manager should lay off the rude, elephant ass women who work for the City of Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteHalf of them are asleep or fucking around on Facebook during work hours while feeding their face full of pork rinds.
A JEW AND A BLACK WALK INTO A BAR
ReplyDeleteThe Jew says, "Oh, I forgot my wallet!"
The Black says, "Not to worry, watch this", and starts accusing the bartender of discriminating against him and being a racist.
The bartender says, "I'll let you ladies stay, and have a free drink, if you can prove you voted for Donald Trump."
Quinton says, "I went to school at Cornell in New York, and always admired Donald Trump for his NYC real estate acumen. I voted for him."
Brian says, "I've been a city manager in New Jersey and had a front-row seat to watch Trump's business success. I voted for him too."
The bartender tosses them both out on the sidewalk for violating his No BULLSHIT curfew.
