Journalists Praise Kansas City Star Apology For Racism: Will It Attract More Readers?!?

Without question, a cavalcade of white guilt for Christmas inspired a great deal of cable news talk show discussion and support among the MSM but one question remains . . .

HOW WILL KANSAS CITY NEWS READERS REACT TO THE 'WOKE' NEWSPAPER?!?

Online, as always, the debate was evenly split with trolls from "many sides" attempting to draw attention to themselves.

However . . . What we've noticed is that "controversy" didn't even rank at the top of the cowtown journalism discourse with more people liking and sharing news of a local newsie who fell in love with a disgraced pharma bro

The climax . . . New York Times discussion behind their paywall . . . And we promise this is probably the last time we'll mention the desperate publicity stunt . . .

Kansas City Star Apologizes for Racism in Decades of Reporting

The newspaper said it had "disenfranchised, ignored and scorned" generations of Black people. The apology comes after one in September by The Los Angeles Times. KANSAS CITY, Mo.

  2. MIKE FANNIN: "Look how special we are!!! We are all so woke!!!! I am going to be so popular and maybe get some more mentions nationally and maybe someday host a BLM riot on my street!!! God I hope they burn my house down too!!! I deserve it!!!

K.C. STAR READERS: "Mike is so woke!!!! It just kinda makes me want to burn down my own house and set the Plaza on fire. If I am lucky, later today I will be punched out from behind in the "Knockout Game". I deserve it, I am white and evil."

MIKE FANNIN"S THOUGHT BUBBLE: (I would like to get sucker punched too. I wonder where I can go to get hit really hard? Everyone would really think I was virtuous then.)

Hey Chuck! Your favorite website Newsmax has disavowed its stance on Dominion, so go cry me a river.

      https://www.newsmax.com/t/newsmax/article/1002355

The right-wing news outlet Newsmax on Monday broadcast a lengthy statement to "clarify" false and baseless claims made on its platform about two vote-processing companies, Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems, and the 2020 election.

"Newsmax would like to clarify its news coverage and note that it has not reported as true certain claims made about these companies," John Tabacco said on the network.

FALSE AND BASELESS. Repeat that ten times.

      HEAR THE THUNDER?

Often starts with two or more silly ^^ marks. It is strongly recommended one should ignore what he/she/it posts as it may cause permanent brain damage.

  16. It's been a long while since anyone at the woke-joke star qualified as anything close to a 'journalist'.

Fanin and the clowns, for example, could have investigated the rampant and obvious corruption and incompetence at the city and county level. They could dare to bring up the murder epidemic, worse this year than ever before. They could address the shenanigans that gave us a crumbling infrastructure and dwindling tax base. They could have dared to question, in some way, the total control by developers of the city's fate. Maybe even take the local corruption class to task on silly disasters like the streetcar. No, no. The Star's been nothing but a cheerleader for all that. See any of Kraske's literary mouth jobs for proof.

If you want to apologize, Fanin, you've got your work cut out for you. Instead of the cynical, empty virtue signaling, you could apologize for your paper's total failure to address meaningful issues of local concern.

    We're waiting.

  17. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They're bankrupt, abandoning their building downtown, and printing their rag in Des Moines. Their circulation and advertising revenue are both in the toilet and don't come close to paying the bills. They're so behind in the online / paywall game that they've only attracted +/- 9,000 subscribers in a metro area of almost two million. They have nothing left but the Hail Mary play.

They tried the journalistic integrity route, but hey, it's a new millennium and "old school" imperatives don't pay the bills anymore...

They tried the "responsible paper of record" thing but decided were too reliant on the City for tax breaks and couldn't afford to hold City government responsible…

They went all-in on the liberal-leaning train and discovered all they were doing was repeating information better found and digested elsewhere...

They has nothing left but to highlight their "woke" credentials and hope a few links from HuffPost and some new readers from The Call's circulation can bring in enough dollars to avoid the pink slips.

  24. I always thought the Kansas City Star was bias, but not in the way they are falsley appologizing for. The Star never had the guts to report thoroughly on the real issues that Kansas City faced such as the record breaking homicides, the homelessness crisis, the crime, the overpriced housing in the area, the problem with the education system, the roads falling apart while the taxpayers are paying for the stadiums that benefit millionaires, the failed streetcar, our corrupt politicians and leaders, etc. The Star only reported on anything that effected Kansas City, MO and Johnson County KS. They completely isolated the Northland and anything East of KCMO. The Star is nothing more than a cheerleader for our local corrupt politicians, KU basketball (or anything KU for that matter) and our local professional sports teams. Sadly like most newspapers in this country it will no longer be around soon. However to apologize for being racist is completely unwarranted and a desperate attempt to stay within the right crowd for post Star employment.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The Star should address why the mayor has shut down local bars and restaurants yet allows people to congregate in other places such as protests and ghetto Walmart and allows the Chiefs to have thousands of fans at their games. Yet the Star won't touch it. If anything the Star is racist against white people just like the Mayor.

  27. it's such a great and even important article from the Star.

I had to come over here to TKC to see how Chuck and all the knuckle dragging racists would respond.

naturally, they didn't fail to disappoint.

    1. It's not. It's completely empty virtue signaling from a justifiably dying paper that ought to apologize to the whole community for its failure to do journalism.

You have been trained to see one issue, racism, and you don't understand it at all.

  28. Anyone who uses "great article" and "Star" in the same post has told you everything you need to know about themselves.

  31. ^^Whats the Star grampy?

  32. The funny thing is that the Black community doesn't even know the Star apologized. 1) They don't take the paper. 2) 59% of them can't read anything except sports.
