TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KCMO 'DEFEND THE POLICE' EMERGES!!!

As always, we work to bring our KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY a view from "many sides" of the Kansas City discourse.

Accordingly, and because we would be remiss without mentioning it . . .

WE'RE SEEING SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN POLICE SUPPORT IN KANSAS CITY PROPER AND THROUGHOUT THE METRO!!!

A few examples . . .

The KCPD police union is doubling down on strident support for an indicted KCPD Detective and the argument is trending across local social media . . .

Police union argues detective charged in Cameron Lamb killing was justified

Money line reported by Fox 4:

“Look this isn’t kindergarten. You don’t get a safe spot. Once you’re doing something wrong and try to get some place where it’s safe — that doesn’t happen that way,” Brad Lemon, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #99, said.

“Officers were told there was a crime a foot. Officers responded to that crime,” Lemon continued. “They approach the individual committing the crime, and then had a gun pulled on them.”

The FOP president has repeatedly argued DeValkenaere’s actions were justified.

“This is a political overreach by a failing prosecutor,” he said.

Meanwhile . . .

As Black Lives Matter marched through Overland Park today, let's not forget that just last week a ride in tribute to fallen officer Mike Mosher earned the support of an equally large crowd.

Even more interestingly via stats that we check from time to time, here's a glimpse behind the scene from our vantage . . .

KCMO Council Lady Heather Hall standing up for police and against amnesty for demonstrators during the recent riot/uprising protests on the County Club Plaza has been one of our most popular posts this week.

To her credit, Norhtland Council Lady Hall & Teresa Loar were the only to to cast votes against the amnesty deal.

And so, we'll continue to monitor the discourse and remind our readers that our SNARKY ALTERNATIVE AND INDEPENDENT TKC BLOG COMMUNITY remains a reliable junk food staple of the local news diet in order to get a more complete view of Kansas City.

And all of this inspires our playlist with more old school songs from The Police this week . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. The police union leader is correct. The police were doing their job and the guy had a gone. This is not a good case for anyone involved.

  2. Queer eye for the criminal guy. Let a few limp wrists be responsible for detaining criminals. See how much drama comes. What a tv series that would be.

  3. It’s not just the obvious terrible consequences that would result if we dismantled police departments....

Suppose you are in an auto accident. There’s no police officers available to conduct the investigation and write the reports. Therefore, there’s no way to officially establish who was at fault or the circumstances surrounding the accident. So your insurance company and then say, “sorry, there’s no report so we don’t know really what happened. Claim denied.”

Traffic safety professionals: “Sorry, there’s no reports on file of any traffic crashes at this intersection ever since we got rid of the police department. Therefore, there’s no recent information available to establish if there is any safety problem.”

“Hey, there’s no cops in this town. So much for speed limits, or stopping at stop signs, or obeying traffic lights.”
“Drive drunk? Why not? There’s no officers patrolling.”

What do you think would happen to your homeowners and renters insurance if your residence is in a ZIP Code where there is no local police department? Also your auto insurance for that matter? But then again, white carry insurance on your car? There’s no officers that are going to asked to see proof of insurance?

How would you feel going to a large public event like a sporting event where there are no officers present to work crowd control and provide a security presence?

  4. And another murder at 18th vine. Do you want to risk your family’s life to go there?

  5. Idk. The guy wasn’t under arrest. He was being surveilled. So what he had a gun. White people carry guns all the time - they never get shot. Wonder why? Heath Hall is married to a cop. If she weren’t I don’t believe she’d be speaking out. This is her last term in office so she’s now must taking a stand on anything. defending bad behavior or police is not a good look.

Some White people and police are saying “If we cant abuse and kill people at whim, we don’t want to be police.” That’s good. Quit. We don’t need people looking to kill for sport on the police force.

  7. 7:30 a defunding supporter and full blown idiot.

  8. No one going to take funds from the police dept. Current situation has nothing to do with the political matter.. ALL depts have to cut their budget!

Policing has to change! 98% of the officers do a great job! As with the protesters, it's the 2% that cause the most issues.

Every so many years a new police chief will come along with a strong sense of ethics and clean house.. Bishop got rid of a few cowboys during his term.. Officers know the creative writers..lol

  9. Blacks have to change! 2% of them do a great job! As with the protesters, it's the 98% that cause the most issues.

    There 11:12, helped you out.
