TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY #BLACKLIVESMATTTER PROTEST AND RIOTING WILL COST TAXPAYERS MORE THAN ONE MILLION BUCKS OUT OF ALREADY BUSTED BUDGET!!!

Kansas City confronts a budget crisis given that coronavirus has severely limited revenues at 12th & Oak. Already talk of pay cuts, layoffs and austerity measures are underway.

One of our most KICK-ASS TKC READERS offered an economic word of warning at the outset of recent social justice unrest.

"Hundreds of officers on overtime during a financial downturn for the city will likely run up a tremendous bill. This is why responsible city leaders build up revenue cushions during the good times instead of adding projects by the billions. Financial downturns are inevitable."

Accordingly, the COVID-19 recession has turned into an economic disaster in the making.

Special thanks to insiders and readers for pointing us in the direction of this info that has been downplayed by MSM . . .

"The police’s response during the weekend has taken a financial toll. KCPD Cheif Smith said 13 police cars suffered $85,000 in damage; medical treatment for injured officers tallied $100,000; increased staffing and overtime cost an additional $600,000."

This estimate was a few days ago, since that time the protests have continued and might persist over another weekend.

To wit, we garnered a ballpark estimate regarding cowtown financial damage from people who know . . .

INSIDERS NOW ESTIMATE KANSAS CITY PROTESTS THREATEN TO COST TAXPAYERS WELL OVER A MILLION BUCKS!!!

More than two mil isn't out of the question.

And that's not even counting all of the biz that the Plaza has lost amid a week-long shut down.

What's worse is that this EPIC price-tag comes at time when KCMO is begging for cash and suffering continued biz hardship whilst coronavirus restrictions and fear continue to diminish local revenues.

Accordingly, when we think about the "big picture" of social justice in Kansas City . . . We question if violent protesters realize their actions will directly contribute to local layoffs in the urban core and fewer services for KCMO neighborhoods.

Developing . . .

  1. Absolutely certain that protesters don't care. A lot of them don't live here and if they do then they don't own a home. The cost to taxpayers is just another freebie that somebody else will have to pay.

Lets see here, protesters who damage and destroy demanding justice just as long as it isn't against them. This is why you arrest violent protesters right and left, get them in court and apply heavy fines to them. Then when they fail to show up and pay for all the damages that were done they get a warrant out on them and have to spend more money because bail for such should be very high. Treat these protesters just like they treat us and this bullshit will stop. Where are the protesters over the good police officers who have been shot and stabbed during all the so called peaceful protesting?

  19. We need to stop seeing stats about "unarmed" people being shot by police without additional information. This means nothing without proper context. Did the person try to grab the officer's gun? Did the person try to beat the police officer with his fists? Did the person try to choke the officer? Not having a weapon doesn't mean the person was necessarily shot without good cause.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Actually, I saw the information on these black men (and woman) who were killed and it’s in The Washington Post. Of the 9 black men and one black woman who were shot and killed while being unarmed, officers were charged in two of the cases (although in one, cops said the person pointed a gun at them and a gun WAS found with the victim; cops were still charged). I can’t remember every case, but in one a man charged a female officer, knocking her down, beating her, and trying to take her gun from her. Another one a man tried to run over officers, and one was trapped in the window being dragged. In another case, a man charged the officers in his car at a high rate of speed. They were in a space where they couldn’t readily outrun a speeding car. Another involved a highway patrolman in TX who did a traffic stop and the guy took off on foot. He was pursued and then he attacked the officer. When I read these stats, it seemed as if the cops were legitimate in using deadly force, except for perhaps one. And in one, the woman, went to the door with a shotgun in her hand for a warrant search. Officers were charged in that case.
So the number in 2019 was 10 unarmed black persons (though two had guns at the ready) while something like 49 cops were killed in the line of duty. Your odds are greater if you’re a cop of being killed by a black man than of them killing you if you’re unarmed.
My point is, when Mr. Crump, the Floyd family lawyer, uses words like this is a genocide, he is spouting incendiary nonsense. You want to see a genocide? Go study Rwanda. There isn’t one in this country.

    2. There are issues with police brutality and police organizations not holding their own accountable. However, the roots of black poverty are more associated with the welfare state. So, this protesting is not addressing root causes.

If you don't understand Black Lives Matter, ask yourself this:

How would you feel if you saw a persistent pattern of unarmed white men being killed by black police officers?

White men can demand that they address the killing of black men by other black men, but that's not their mandate. That's not why they exist. It was born of the killing of unarmed black men by white police men. It is an appeal to the police & the nation to stop because Black Lives Matter, too.

Responding with "All Lives Matter" shows that you are missing the point - often, deliberately.

  36. ^ Don't get hung up on the term "unarmed". "unarmed" doesn't mean an absence of threat. If someone is attacking you on the ground with fists blazing, they are "unarmed" but certainly a threat.

    ReplyDelete
  37. In 2019, 341 unarmed whites were killed by police in the U.S. as opposed to 245 blacks. Again, "unarmed" should have context because the person might have tried to take the officer's gun and shoot him/her, tried to beat them up, hit them with a car, etc. Blacks made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S., commit about 60% of robberies and did a lot of other violent crime when compared to other ethnic groups. Knowing all this, the numbers killed by police don't seem extraordinary.

  51. Elite media and business leaders contribute to this mindset by rushing to label all whites with systematic racism in order for the elite whites to say "see I am not a racist, because I just threw all other whites under the bus by calling them racists". They do this to protect their $ million dollar positions as cable network news anchors, Hollywood celebrities, or CEO's like Nike, Microsoft etc.

It's a sickening cycle and does nothing to further race relations, but rather, creates more divisiveness. The police who put up with the most violent crap every day are always the scapegoats.

Whites are weary of this repetitive cycle and have resorted to arming themselves over the years as they see law and order slowly disintegrate with each cycle of riots and looting which are happening more and more frequently. Police will soon be so neutered they will not be able to arrest the bad guys and the bad guys know it. Meanwhile the elites will live in their gated communities with private security; smugly safe and rich.

Hello again from the White House. Marie Antoinette and I are resting comfortably and in style five stories below ground.

So, a lot of fake news. Out today. Tremendous fake news. Saying I'm in a bunker. There is no bunker. The White House is great. Structure of building is so secure and so safe. We have these tough Secret Service people that will not let anything happen to me. Ok? They are going to protect their supreme leader with great strength and toughness. So, the first thing is there's no bunker ... and I'm talking to the MAGATS. Your President is safe. Total strength. Total safety. NOT in a bunker. Where we are actually is in the ... it's called the closet. K? We're in the closet where we have all the safe things I need.

Mike ... Mike Pence says the closest is safe. He's spend a lot of time in the closest so he knows what's best. He's been such a strong leader on the COVID which we recently defeated. Great job, Mike.

But, we're doing great. K? There's a lot of nasty people out there doing terrible things. The blacks. And, uh, the Dems. And also this Auntie Teefa. Ok? Who's this little black woman, she's so nasty, they call her Auntie Teeffa. She's doing the most damage. And I won't call her Auntie. I don't want to give her the respect. Ok? So I'm just calling her Teefa. Teefa is doing a lot of nasty things. So, we need law and order. Ok? We need great ... it's called law and order ... we love our great U-S of A.

So we're gonna get through this. Damage will be very minimal. And we gonna have strong reactions and strength. And in talking with my wife, Marie, as some of you know ... she has a history of doing inter-racial movies. So, I think she might be part of the solution.

God Bless you. God Bless Fox News ... and God Bless the United States of America.

    1. Wow. Tons of setup for a few mild jokes. How long did you spend on this? Troll grade: D

You're still making the same error of over-trolling weak material. This should have been about a third as long and would have been better that way.

You also misunderstand satire, which operates on the principle of absurdity related to a grain of truth. For instance, it would have been better if you'd taken an actual statement or two from Trump to mock (God knows he says enough weird shit) rather than the Antifa tangent which is a non-starter-especially with Antifa not being very funny.

Still not sure that French Revolution jokes fly anywhere. And mocking patriotism tends to be risky; the tone can alienate before you get a chance to land a punchline. Which you didn't have anyway.

Were you attempting Trump's dialect? It didn't come across. Again, he has well known vocal mannerisms you could have used and it might have been funny. Needs to have a lot clearer.

A D grade is being charitable. Do better.
