Resolved: Kansas City Hates J.C. Nichols

Aftermath of today's testimony . . . There really isn't anybody in Kansas City interested in standing up for a dead, racist, rich, white, dude. Meanwhile, there's still not a consensus to name the fountain after MLK.

At virtual town hall, dozens sound off on renaming JC Nichols Fountain, Parkway

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Any statue, monument or name connected to slavery and racism is getting a hard, second look. In Kansas City, the fountain and street named after JC Nichols is under review . Nichols was a city planning mastermind and developed the Country Club Plaza, but he also helped write the rules that kept Blacks out of affluent neighborhoods for decades .

  1. The Parks Board President Jack Holland is a bond salesman. Why do you think KC is so far in debt. Ask Jack Holland why we need to refinance the Power & Light bonds ever 3 or 4 years? Ask Jack Holland did he sell Stadium bonds paid back by a regressive sales tax on the poor of KC? Let's start holding people accountable for today's actions not people that have been dead for 70 years.

  6. NO Kansas City DOES NOT HATE J C NICHOLS. I'm a native of this city and have been here way longer than the basement kids and mad man Lucas who is destroying everything in their path. Nichols was a man that built most of this city and took pride in making it the city it was. So he kept blacks out of certain areas well look around and you can see why. Have they destroyed they Plaza....YES. Did they break into the jewelry store and take what was not theirs....YES. Do they gang white people who go into the east side and the people in Central Hyde Park when they lived at all of those Apts. on Armour...YES. So can you blame him? You can see the proof and it prove Nichols to be right!

You're entitled to your opinion but you didn't go down and say that in front of everybody. The Parks board can only go with the statements their getting in public testimony.

It's likely you would never make that kind of statement in public and if you aren't willing to stand up for your beliefs, nobody is obligated to listen to you!

  9. 7:15 they’re doing what the cleave tells them to do or no money for them, the whole mlk on the Paseo is for the prestige the cleave thinks it’ll garner his church..... which happens to be on the Paseo.

That’s all this has ever been about, the cleave.

  10. Maybe the black community should have stood up to the plate during the History of Our City and been more responsible for major economic development and promoting progress of Our City. They only seem to improve the murder statistics and crime rate. Call a spade a spade. Not defame those that did. Clean up your own backyards , not shit in it. Ditto with any group of people attacking the people that actually took risks more than just bitching and demanding. 2020 America is about weak losers demanding the heads of those that accomplished. Tonys is filled with weak fucks that demand, never have achieved.
