The end of the lockdown doesn't offer much hope for this town's signature cuisine given problems further up the supply chain.

The local angle as cowtown resturants struggle to survive . . .

KMBC: Some barbecue restaurants facing meat shortage

The problem now, though, is the quantity of both of those items might be in jeopardy.

"A lot of the processing plants are running at under 50% of the capacity," a local BBQ owner said.

That is due to COVID-19 and the potential spread of it with workers in those plants.

"Some of them have shut down completely," he said.

Fact is, there hasn't ever been a local restaurant that ever made any real money selling broccoli.

And so this crisis seems to be hitting the workforce harder than households wanting a few pieces of chicken every week. Either way, locals without beef are bound to express their discontent loudly.

OR, to be fair, this might be just like the ventilator shortage that remains hotly debated.

  8. Another scare tactic from the radical left. Butchers all over say there is no meat shortage. They got behind because of some issues with the virus but being short of meat and getting behind are two different things. They caused people to have a run on meat. The radical left loves to stir up crap it's what they live for and also to control and scare people.
