Jackson County Prosecutor releases 2019 annual report on office's activities and programs

"A 2019 Annual Report on the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office is being made available today to the public. It gives new statistics and stories about activities and programs in the office, including a new analysis of homicides in Jackson County, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced."

Here's here note and report highlights . . .

Dear Community Members,

In 2019, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office addressed violent crime in the courts more effectively, disposing of 63 homicide cases with a 98.4 percent conviction percentage. This is a very important accomplishment. With violence increasing in recent years, it’s more important than ever before to closely monitor how effective we are being in bringing justice to the victims and their loved ones in these violent crime cases. We must also find new, creative ways to address violence, but also low level crime, to more proactively address crime before it grows into incidents that carry much more serious consequences for those involved and for our community. Among many successes last year, our office:

- Closed nearly 10% more criminal cases

- Expanded the new Caring for Crime Survivors program

- Initiated numerous new COMBAT improvements

- Prosecuted a triple murder in which an 1-year-old was a victim

- Organized a new hospital-based violence reduction effort at Truman Medical Center

- Continued the expansion of Drug Court and New Start diversions

This past year netted tremendous successes and encouraging progress.

Our partnerships in the community have grown significantly. The prosecutor’s office has established meaningful collaborations with the community and with partners in and outside the criminal justice system, including public schools, hospitals and a variety of community groups focused on crime, especially those set on reducing violent crime. As we continue forward, we are aiming for a new public safety model that places a priority on our overall community’s health.

Thank you for taking an interest in the important work of the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office. We look ahead at even more progress in improving public safety and ensuring our office works well for everyone in our community.

Jean Peters Baker

  1. the conviction rate is good but I think a lot of people would complain about the number of cases that go to trial and those that are settled. when there's a violence offense, this often unsettles victims.

    1. ^^^ Don't overlook the judges who throw out a number of cases, grant light sentences and impede prosecutions. There is more than enough blame to go around when a small Midwestern city has 150 murders every year.

    2. She has a lot of haters but there have been worse prosecutors.

My only complaint is that I think the courthouse deserves an official working full time. It seems that her working as Missouri Democratic Party Chair during the 2020 election season would take a lot of time and energy from what is already one of the most taxing jobs in KC.

  2. Many of the murders are unsolved.

You can't lock people up if the police can't find out who did it.

  3. It must be re-election season... career politicians will say anything to get re-elected.

  4. Is there anyone that really likes her ? Not really.

  5. Her conviction rate is bogus. Reduction of murder charges to armed criminal action, etc. Agrees with the liberal fag judges to light sentences that are ridiculous. Jean Petersucker Baker is worthless.

  6. She must think we are stupid.

  7. Bullshit. She has reduced charges and settled for light sentences. Does she think we are stupid?

  8. Jean Petersucker Baker is useless as teats on a boar,

  9. And "certain" lawyers get "really good deals"...wink...wink. Who ya kidding, Petersucker?

  10. I think 6:13 makes the most relevant point. A REAL report would offer us some data on how many charges are reduced. This wouldn't be hard to track and would help Jackson County voters get a REAL look at what's happening.

  11. Yes convictions are important but way too many of those lead to probation or way too short of sentences for violent felons.

  12. That is unfortunately correct, when you plead down from attempted murder down to assault it's still considered a conviction. What happened to the seven years mandatory for handgun 10 year mandatory for long gun used in criminal activity? Seems like if we just enforced the gun laws already on the book we might be in a better place as a city and citizens. Now what say you?

  13. So, she just said:

I am making like Murder Momentum is not a thing.
Go with with me on glossing over full and accurate data.
Democrim-run businesses supplying Tshirts, balloons, and candles are right up there with my fave Dem party fund--err, friends.

  14. Jean Petersucker Baker is the criminal’s best friend.

  15. And she's ugly as sin...

    ReplyDelete
  16. She's a liberal. Know any that are not ugly?

  17. ^^ The comments on her personal appearance are silly. Look at her job performance, that's the only thing that matters.

When you see all of the crime and repeat offenders in KC, it's clear that we need to think about other candidates for this elected position.

  18. Appearance is everything. Who wants to bed an ugly bitch ? Who wants an ugly broad to sell your product ? Therefore ugly bitches get the failure tasks. Ugly bitch 101 if you went to University. Certainly if you went to Petersucker U, aka UM of the fucking hood KC.
