THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! SUPER BOWL CULTURE WAR: KANSAS CITY CHIEFS AND CHOP UNDER MSM ATTACK!!!

So many among our blog community predicted this and now it's news fact . . .

MSM VIEW THE CHIEFS AND THE CHOP AS PROBLEMATIC AND DISGRACEFUL!!!

Even more interestingly . . .

THE CHIEFS AND ARROWHEAD CHOP ARE LIKENED TO FAKING MILITARY GLORY!!!

This passage from today's MSM onslaught is relevant and offers a new spin to the argument . . .

"I asked him how he feels about people who pretend to be veterans when they are not. That is what the Native headdress equates to: Chiefs went to battle and earned it, much like the medals military veterans earn. But he refused to see the correlation."

Here are some of the better headlines that condemned the moniker, mascot and representations of Kansas City's team . . .

Mascot Missive

The Kansas City Chiefs' racist mascot has flown under the radar. Not anymore.

First-person essays and interviews with unique perspectives on complicated issues. A self-described lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan once asked me the meaning of the words that are sung as the crowd performs the "Arrowhead Chop" at Chiefs games, the beloved fan chant made up of a series of literal " oh oh oh "s.

Historic Rebuke

How the Kansas City Chiefs got their name, and why it's so controversial

NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, one of several American sports teams that copy Native American imagery and traditions, will take the field for Super Bowl LIV. How did the team, which was founded in 1959, come to have such a loaded name? And why does the practice of such cultural appropriation still endure?

Kansas City Disgraced?!?!

Opinion | The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl will be tarnished by their fans' racism

Native American mascots might be the last form of traditional American racism that people of every color and creed will rush to support and defend. On any given Sunday during the regular NFL season - right there in the stands - one can find a black guy in a headdress, a white guy in redface, and a Latino or Asian duo tomahawk chopping with one hand and gripping an overpriced alcoholic beverage in the other.

Stolen Glory?!?!

At Super Bowl LIV, Questions About Native American Appropriation Take The Field

Millions of people will be tuning into the 54th annual Super Bowl this Sunday to watch the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs for the championship title. And this year, the big question looming over the field will once again be where the NFL - and the country - stands on the use of Native American imagery in sports.

Accordingly, we throw the question back to our beloved late night readers and invite our blog community to think about the big picture not now but 50 years from now . . .

HAVE THE CHIEFS & THE CHOP BECOME OUTDATED, DISGRACEFUL AND A DETRIMENT TO KANSAS CITY?!?!

Once again, this inspire our playlist for tonight . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. Somewhat agree but I some of the comments point out an important fact, why aren't people as offended by the Celtics or the Vikings?

    1. ^^^ those are still majority cultures. Just off-brand whites. Disagree or not, it's a matter of fact that Native Americans were subject to a systemic and illegal genocide.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Chiefs. The Redskins are actually much more galling, unacceptable and should undergo a name change.

  2. Go CHIEFS!

  4. I could really give a rat's behind what CNN or people in New York or San Francisco think. MSM are always looking for something to divide America. I think it is great that Kansas City embraces the Native American heritage. It's a compliment to former fallen warriors that Chiefs fans embraces the warrior heritage.

    GO CHIEFS !!!!

  5. Seriously? People worried about the Chief's chop? When the Catholic church was relic displaying the CHOPPED OUT heart of a deceased male (in a large glass container) that they think was a saint? A human heart on display at Cur of Ars in Leawood for people to see last year and "worship"? Gross! They said he had an "incorruptable heart" and that its proven as it hasnt deteriorated. But the term "incorruptable heart" really means a good morale person - NOT the condition of a dead man's heart. The Catholic church is a false pagan church, styled remotely after Christianity so people will join and give money. So there is a dead man somewhere the catholics CHOPPED his heart out-and nobody cares? Ignorance is no excuse on judgement day for Catholics.

^^These are some of the stupidest comments I have ever read.

When the black players took a knee during the national anthem, you were highly offended that the national anthem was being disrespected & yet you change the last word of the song to chiefs. You want respect, but won't give it in return. It's time to grow up, & put away the chop. Yes, your name is offensive, too. As is the fact that you don't give a damn if you offend.

    1. Byron, YOUR name is the most offensive of all, as is your presence. And as someone who doesn’t give a damn that they lied, cheated, and stole from the government so you wouldn’t have to work, you don’t get an opinion. Go plague your own town.

  10. ^^^^ Fake Byron. And offensive, too. Weird.

  11. The fierce warrior culture that the chants and gestures celebrate has been neutered by the conqueror himself.

This year's Chiefs team is really on the warpath and I don't think there's a thing that can stop them.
SF's D is gonna be circling the wagons when our boys bring the big time rush on Jimmy G. Our entire team seems onboard with Andy Reid's gameplan so we shouldn't have any worries about too many chiefs and not enough indians out there come gameday, as every team member sees themselves as an equal and none higher on the totem pole than any other. On the offhand chance that our boys again get off to a slow start tomorrow we could always call a timeout, have a little pow wow so to speak and regroup.

  13. White people are always racist and inappropriate and go to great lengths to defend their cultural misappropriation.

  14. ^^^ that’s the way we like it uh huh uh huh!

Find some real shit to complain about like..... the dimwits and their nevar ending attacks on the greatest President this country has seen in generations. They’ve spent nearly $100 million dollars going after trump and they still got nothing on him, matter of fact they’ve done nothing for the taxpayers, you should be offended, outraged and just plain pissed off about that but no, you people are stupid.

  20. "... it's a matter of fact that Native Americans were subject to a systemic and illegal genocide." Bullshit. Your "fact" is really "myth."

American Indians died by the hundreds of thousands post-contact, but not because the European settlers intended it. They died of diseases brought from Europe, to which the American Indians had zero immunity. That's what happens when you separate yourself from the rest of humanity for 15,000+ years. But the Europeans had no idea what caused the diseases they carried with them - the germ theory of disease was not developed until the late 19th century.

Illegal? Cite the laws you refer to.
