KC residents beg city council to "save the arts" in proposed budget

KANSAS CITY - More than a hundred Kansas City residents packed the auditorium of Northgate Middle School to give feedback on the city's proposed 2020-2021 budget, which was released last week. "The potholes have been an issue that has been going on for several years now," Kansas City resident Dario Fontana said.

  1. How about we save the streets first?

  2. Fuck that.
Let's get weed up and running ASAP.

  3. Taxpayers money should not be for arts faggots to spend.

  4. “Queer eye” counts as arts? In what universe? It’s just a bunch of homosexuals running around lisping and getting their asses rammed.

  5. So many experts on the local cultural arts in this comments section. I'm really impressed.

Or hopefully, the last taxpayer handout

  8. Arts tend to pack fudge , not meetings.

  9. By the looks of the photo most of the "artists" and outraged activists who "packed" the budget hearing came disguised as empty chairs.
EVERYBODY'S special little interest and cause is their NUMBER ONE ISSUE that taxpayers are supposed to pay for.
If you can't get the public to voluntarily pony up, just head for 12th and Oak and make your pitch to the gutless wonders there.
Using tax money to fund all this peripheral crap is nothing but getting the public to INVOLUNTARILY pay for it.
How about some basic services for a change?

  10. $5 million less for arts and $5 million more for "free" buses. Mayor Selfie isn't lying when he tells you he didn't gut arts for the free bus. a farce at best. More bad math. The cost of the service is twice the money budgeted.

  11. People support arts when the artists are talented. That is not the case in Kansas City. Not much talent here.

  12. The Arts money went for Mike Burke's Convention Hotel! That's Justice since Burke was Slie's Arts Task Force head, ironic since he'd never had any involvement in the arts before that!! Arts KC go get the money from Mike Burke!!!

  13. Yet 4 out of 5 attendees blew a tire via a pothole on their way to the rainbow fest...who knew!!! ( I am a tow truck driver and I made mad money via this event) Fly those Rainbow flags, all I ask is one of you Richard Simmonds mother fuckers choke on the mayors dick and just before he fills your mouth with a load of gay nasty, that you remind him the rest of the city voters are looking for something else to be filled!! AKA POTHOLES - NOT buttholes!!

  14. We need bike paths... not sociopaths.

Consider multi-millions for bikes... not arts.

What with all the e-bikes and such... carbon vs carb is real.

Support your local cyclist to day and vote NO on arts.

  15. If these people wanted the arts supported so much why not bankroll it from their own money instead of stealing from their neighbors to prop it up?
