Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas Considers KU Vs. K-State Basketball Brawl Discipline

A quick word from Kansas City's top ranking elected official at city hall regarding b-ball fighting consequences amid calls for strict punishment . . .

"Long suspension? Sure. Punishment? Sure. But I’m never gonna stand for throwing away a young black man’s career. He’s a kid. He’ll learn from this and he’s embarrassed. Let’s be teachers at a university, not corrections officers."

The aftermath that seems to prove the Mayor correct . . .

Player suspended after bench-clearing brawl at Kansas-Kansas State basketball game

A basketball game between the University of Kansas and Kansas State University ended in a bench-clearing brawl Tuesday night. The fight between the in-state rivals erupted after a Kansas player blocked a shot by a Kansas State player, sending the player to the floor, at the end of Kansas' 81-60 win at home in Lawrence.

  1. Hey, that’s the same attitude he, Jean Petersucker Baker and our liberal fag judges have toward our local hood rat murderers . Probation, sure. But prison, no.

No wonder we have so many murders in Kansas City. There are no consequences.

  2. Unfortunately a perfect example of the problem.
As long as someone is "a young black man" whatever activities or behaviors he decides to pursue is up to him.
No consequences, discipline, or even negative comments.
Little role modeling or even parenting.
Then in far too many cases, the behavior gets worse and worse, finally turning into a self-destructive thug dangerous to all.
Then, instead of taking serious action to try to protect society, we;ll have even more excuses, social workers, probation, light sentences, or early release.
And where did this all start?
Don't "ruin" a young black man's life with discipline or consequences.
A sad perpetual circle of failure.
And a missed opportunity for smiley selfies Lucas to show he has the guts necessary to actually address the problem.

  3. Wjy the f__k is the mayor of a city other than possibly Lawrence saying anything to the public concerning children fighting ?
Go chase a murderer in your city while you dodge pot holes on your way. Or was one of those fighting children your current boyfriend ?

  4. If he was white, he wouldn’t have been suspended at all. Of course, if he was white, it wouldn’t have happened at all.

  5. Is he suspended with pay or without pay? By the way, what career? Silvio De Sousa is worthless. He is averaging 2.6 pts per game.

  6. The kid is just a pawn--the NCAA doesn't care about him. It's a financial decision--the NCAA will do whatever causes the least financial damage to the institution.

  10. 8:10 you're the one who is butthurt over being a nobody since you want to try and point out that others are right there with you but failed in doing so. Lucas is quickly becoming more hated than James ever was.

Interesting that both teams are close to equal in numbers of white and black players but it was all black players that were suspended. Once you go to university you're no longer a kid but a man or woman Mr. Lucas.

If four white players had been suspended would Mayor Lucas be getting face time about that? Hell no he would not.

I noticed that not a one of these four black players has issued an apology of any kind for their thug style actions. But honestly that does not surprise me. I'm KU alma mater (For you trolls, no I am not GAY!) and I say all four players need to be banned and barred for life from any professional sports. They clearly displayed they have no clue how a adult ball player acts. These are future Tyreek Hill type players.

When KU Law "Professor" Q woke up with a hangover in an idling car, at the time he thought repeating what he'd heard from Jalen Rose on ESPN would be a good idea!!!

  15. @9:29 and yet I'm not the one who comes on here day after day, post after post, crying about it, and demanding those "bad" black guys be banned for life like a little bitch. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 9:45, but I agree with them "BLACK" players being banned the same as I would if they were "WHITE". I also think you should be banned for posting hate messages all the time at anyone who bothers to speak the truth.

  17. they deserve suspension for shitty fighting -- no good punches landed, one dude didn't even take his glasses off..didn't crack anyone with the stool ...yaaawn!

  18. @10:07AM-I think you should be banned for life from this blog, and pretty much everywhere else because you're a crying little bitch and nobody has any kind of time for it. You are the reason you're a failure...deal with it!

  23. Oh,so sQuintword already determine the kid's future career? Play basketball because you can't do anything else? Sad. Also, why is De Sousa wearing white pantyhose?

  26. At least the suspended players will have plenty of time to catch up on their studies.

  27. Quinton Lucas was elected, and sworn-in to be the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri. What happens in another state, mile west of Kansas City, is none of his damn business. STFU

  28. The mayor is so off base on this. These are young men and they should know that participating in a fight is wrong by the time they are in college. And why bring race into it?? Would he feel differently is those suspended were hispanic, asian, or white? Mayor - your prejudice is showing.

  29. Black privilege: zero responsibility, zero consequences. Good job Mayor McDrinkerson!
