KANSAS CITY FREEBIE TRANSIT PUSH CELEBRATED ACROSS THE NATION!!!

Tonight we pause to take a quick glimpse of reporting from across the country which applauds our local transit welfare system even if NOBODY understands how this town is going to pay for it without yet another MASSIVE tax increase . . . Checkit:

Local Socialism Debut???

Kansas City is first major U.S. city to make public transit free

Could offering free fares boost ridership on U.S. transit systems? Kansas City is about to find out. This week, Kansas City, Missouri's City Council voted unanimously to make the city's bus system fare-free.

Kansas City, Mo., is poised to become the first major city with free public bus service after the city council voted to include the funding request in the next fiscal year budget. Mayor Q Earns Nationwide Acclaim As Freebie Champion

Ask An Expert: Kansas City is exploring free transit. Should Seattle?

Should Seattle-area passengers ride public transit for free? Advocates in Seattle have called for eliminating the $2.75 fare for King County Metro buses and the $2.25 to $3.25 fares for Sound Transit light rail. Those calls grew louder after Sound Transit data showed black passengers get cited and punished disproportionately for evading fares compared to other racial groups.

Kansas City Almost Has Free Public Transit, But Should It?

On Thursday, the City Council unanimously approved a measure that puts in motion a plan to eliminate fares from Kansas City's public transportation system.

    1. Was it this expensive for Sly to earn his headlines? Seems like a great deal of money just so the mayor and a couple of council members can make a name for themselves and run for congress.

I like to see Kansas City get good national coverage. This could work and I agree it'll need taxpayer support but considering all of the stupid stuff we spend our money on, getting people to work and back and around the city isn't such a bad idea. Sorry if I get hosed for this comment but I think of it as an "investment" to benefit the city. A lot of people feel that way.

  3. Agree with Bob, we can't give all the money to Wadell & Reed.

Our mayor is a renter. He can leave with a lot more ease than the rest of us.

  6. Sure it's easy to give away that which in the end costs you nothing. Remember, last I knew your newly elected Mayor pays virtually no taxes. So he can give it all away and move up the political ladder leaving all the bills behind him. Meanwhile those who don't pay for it either are loving it and those who do pay are hating it and appears to now be the minority residents of Kansas City.

  7. Time free parking. I'm going get petition to eliminate all parking meters and no charge to park at the new KCI airport.

  8. I wouldn't ride the Ghetro if they paid me each time. I value my life too much.

  9. It's something they can never go back on, so the City will be stuck paying for it forever. Is the fare really what keeps people from riding anyway?

  10. Waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with our innovative ways12/7/19, 5:27 PM

Lawmakers in Kansas City, Missouri took a "visionary step" on Thursday by unanimously voting to make public transportation in the city free of charge and setting the stage for it to be the first major U.S. city to have a population of certified "tax serfs" living in a feudal state, toiling madly away in vain in order to pay the bills and debts rang up by local politicians and lawmakers.

  11. I foresee the Mayor adding a tax to Uber and Lyft to make up the difference as he recently tweeted a story about a west coast city’s plan to do the same.

  13. Uber got kicked out of London because they rape to many passengers.

  14. Other cities may be able to copy the KCMO "free" bus service, but they'll never be able to catch up to the homicides-per-capita records KCMO continues to put on the board year after year.

  15. Nobody complains about car socialism: Land wasted on free parking, extra lanes, and the cost of sprawl.

    ReplyDelete
  16. This is strictly a political move to elevate the mayor's national profile.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ^^^^ oUCH. Gotta admit, that's a good point. Car socialism is a real thing but it creates a whole industry. Not sure if paying for a bunch of bums to get from one liquor store to the next will pay off.

  18. agree with 433.

also, free will help incubate an urban core.

  19. Take the 8 million from the Police Budget.

  20. ^^^^And yet $8 mil is less than we contribute every year to Power and Light and way less than we just gave to Waddell and Reed, who were planning to move downtown anyway. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Great, national publicity. Now the whole country will notice that we actually elected a gay mayor that has lived off affirmative action his whole life. If we weren’t a laughingstock before, we will be soon.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^^And yet the mayor's being gay (even if true) won't raise an eyebrow outside the rural neanderthal belt and snake handler churches, and the free bus service seems to be getting favorable publicity nationwide. Weird.

  23. We missed a chance to really be celebrated. We should have made it free to negroes, LGBT faggots, women, everyone except straight, white men.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Since we won’t have as much use of automobiles, we can probably get the $8 mil from savings o n a snow removal and pothole repair.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh, come on, 8:56. Couldn't we also allow non-LGBT faggots a free ride, too?

And 8:57, if you ever lose your incel status, I hope you won't object to your prospective girlfriend sucking your dick.

  26. We can’t fix the streets but by god we can give free bus rides! This city is so fucked up! Hahahahaha!

  27. AKA- how to give a Criminal a Free ride to the next place they rob, kill or just piss all over your neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We can’t fix the streets but by god we can build parking garages for luxury apartment buildings, subsidize Waddell and Reed's move downtown, and make up the Power and Light deficit every year! This city is so fucked up! Hahahahaha!

  29. ^^ 5:54 - When a person really doesn't understand what creates an economy.. thinks giving away money to crime and assistance does. LOL. Yep, those free riders will bring bucks to your Hamlet.

Yes, we hear you about being priced out, we know your wages aren't high enough, the traffic is bad, crime is bad, etc.

So why are you complaining about free bus rides?

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's not going to work12/8/19, 7:21 AM

This will be great. Now every broke, dumb, desperate, purposeless lunatic, criminal, misfit, drifter, maniac and weirdo will flock to the Land of Frosty and Vibrating CkMo Gubberment by Selfies Shitty and the Dems will have a new whole new voter base and flock to screw over and exploit.

  34. Lie # 1 - They don't know how they will pay for it. Of course, they know. It will come from higher sales taxes or higher property taxes.
Lie # 2 - It's Free. If it's higher sales taxes then poor folks will
pay for it along with everyone else. If it's property taxes, then the rest of us will pay for it.

  35. Isn't is great how conservatives get so incensed when the poor get some help? And yet welfare to corporations usually passes without notice. Do worry, JOCO. Free bus doesn't extend to Kansas. You're safe. For now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 6:12 I have no idea who you are but if Chuck won't I'd have no problem stomping your ass into the ground for such a hateful comment. Grow up you fucking loser!

  37. Socialism? the bus service we already pay for being more accessible is somehow wrong? GTFOH

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have no problem with free fare for the elderly and disabled, but for everyone is an unnecessary expense. As for those who think this is going to get a lot of people to and from work, you need to look at the types of people in the bus stops in KC. They’re not worker bees. They’re hobos and beggars and the great unwashed hopping from one stop to another.
