ARROWHEAD TOMAHAWK CHOP ENDURES!!! KANSAS CITY STAR CREATES DIVISION WITHIN NATIVE AMERICAN COMMUNITY BUT LACKLUSTER REACTION INSPIRES NO CHANGE FROM CHIEFS!!!

Recently, the Kansas City Star penned a few pious race-baiting editorials demanding an end to the "Tomahawk chop" at Arrowhead but the progressive print media push inspired little interest and no policy change.

Similarly and to follow-up the effort, Dave Helling punched out some silly idea about changing the name of Arrowhead that was almost completely ignored by everyone but a few irrelevant online trolls.

It's beguiling to think that people actually pay to read this kind of thing.  But, a look at KC Star parent company McClatchy's stock reveals that subscribers coughing up cash for dead-tree screeds continues to plummet.

But I digress . . .

The only thing directives targeting the Kansas City Chiefs managed to do is create distension among local Native American groups.

Here's the word from a local Native American activist . . .

"They reached out to talk to a few groups but it seemed to me that they (The Star) were only interesting in covering complaints and didn't really want to hear about all the times we've worked with team and they've reached out to include us in their games and their programs."

The activist points us to one example of KC Chiefs community outreach out of many . . .

Lakota Women Warriors at a Kansas City Chiefs game

Moreover . . .

SOME KANSAS CITY NATIVE AMERICAN LEADERS CLAIM THE STAR PITTED THEM AGAINST EACH OTHER IN HOPES OF SPARKING ANGER & PROTEST!!!

"I feel like once they (KC Editorial Board journalists) knew were weren't going to protest and have different feelings about the chop, they didn't really want to talk to us. They just wanted headlines abut didn't seem to care that we're about more than just making a few brash statements. We want to protect, preserve and promote our culture to the American public. We've learned over time that showing people what our Native community is REALLY about is more productive than just shouting and screaming. We want to create dialogue . . . Show that we're part of the community and always have been. THAT is what is more important."

More to the point . . .

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS INSIDERS WARN THEIR MIGHT SOON BE SOME OBLIGATORY ADVICE ON THE TOMAHAWK CHOP WITH ABSOLUTELY NO ENFORCEMENT OR INTEREST FROM THE FRONT OFFICE!!!

Translation: This is Kansas City. Things aren't going to change any time soon.

With this post we can only hope that we've offered a glimpse at the complexity of the concerns of some Native American leaders who have much more to offer than just the "angry minority" depiction provided by the newspaper.

Moreover . . . What we notice more than anything else is that The Kansas City Star championed a culture war issue and their concerns completely fell flat and were politely ignored by most.

You decide . . .

  1. I would be a hater here but Helling is actually the only decent member of the editorial board left that The Star. Everything else is pure garbage. At lease Dave has a lot of experience and knows what he's talking about, even if I disagree.

  2. I like the KC mahomes, they have silly hair and put on a good show even when they lose.

  3. If not for things like the tomahawk chop native Americans history would be forgotten. After all they didn't accomplish a whole lot.

  4. Breaking news!!! The commie red star accuses fans of being racist for wearing fro wigs!

  5. The Star wants to replace the Tomahawk Chop with something they find politically correct, like sucking a dick.

  6. That drawing has the worst representation of Mahome's hair I've ever seen!

  7. The Chop will be alive and well long after the piece of shit Kansas City Star is dead and gone.

  8. This doesn't sound legitimate.

Why not give people's names instead of referring to your source as a "local activist," unless this is just a made up quote (something I strongly suspect).

  9. Calm down Dave.

  10. Because a legitimate story would quote people by name. Not naming them raises suspicions that the quote is not a real one but one made up for the purposes of clicks and ad revenue.

  11. Isn't it funny how the Red Star and the Chiefs have been around for years and this was never an issue until now.

  12. You have to hand it to the editorial staff of doing a great job of:

    1. Insuring more are pissed and canceling subscriptions.
    2. Making sure young people “green shame” their old neighbors who actually still have papers thrown on their driveways.
    3. Causing more divisions and fracturing and subscribers they have left.
    4. Making sure people who short their stock win big.
    5. Look small and petty when they approach their mirrors.
    6. Making the chant louder.
    7. Not doing anything to actually help natives.. just hoping an article they write changes the world
    8. Hoping if this sticks maybe something else will... like their MLK/Paseo editorial did (lol)
    9. Great article they can use on their year end appraisal
    10. Showing how their payroll is put to good use...this could help the paper make millions.

  15. Good Lord, get over it you silly people! it has nothing to do with YOU! You folks are just perpetually offended by nothing of real importance!

  16. So the Kansas City Star is demanding something to take place? How about all the readers who have demanded the real facts and truth to all the stories the Star prints. Guess the Star thinks they are the only ones entitled to make demands around here.

The Star could fold up shop tomorrow and I honestly doubt anybody would really notice or even care outside of a few hundred women who like the Sunday edition for the coupons.

  17. I'm fine with doing away with the tomahawk chop if we can replace it with the scalping knife slice.

  23. First of all read the book Indian Givers to learn what Indigenous People gave the world....then get rid of the Hollywood manta the KC football corporation plays and fans him. It came from the movies where white guys dressed as Indians...or is that what Kansas City football is all about ..really??
