TKC Told You So: Kansas City Star Reblogs Downtown Stadium News

We talked about this on Wednesday and today the newspaper repackages it for their last remaining subscriber with a graphic that's not as much fun . . . Take a look:

The possibility of pursuing a downtown stadium

Here are a couple possible sites downtown should the Royals look to relocate.

Comments

  1. A couple Thugs from the local construction and real estate industry were probably standing over these two writers wearing black leather gloves and holding baseball bats.

  2. ^^^ Without construction the city would literally plunge into insolvency overnight.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Why not build hotels and everything else needed on the parking lots at arrowhead plenty of land. The whole world driving by on I 70 would be amazed.

    ReplyDelete
  4. We better check with the United Nations first to see if this is green and a good plan. Perhaps a couple thousand apartments can be built right into the stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Who's pressuring everyone to do this JE Dunn Construction?

    ReplyDelete
  6. When the outside of the airport is done in 2023 the Heavy equipment operators will be needing something to do. Why is it they always are in the taxpayers pockets to do something. Don't private developers pay for anything anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Wow! I grew up my entire life in Prescott and just moved here so now I'm a real official Kansas Cityian!

This is really a vibrant idea! Maybe some Gondolas should be in the plan!

    ReplyDelete
  8. 18th and Vine? Troost? Why build there? Try something between the
Downtown area and the plaza where you can draw the traditional baseball fans.
Having been a lifelong Royals fan you can see that the fans would like this
more than in the heart of downtown where parking and traffic would be a mess.

  9. ^^^ There ya go boy your qualified for a Mayoral Appointment.

    ReplyDelete
  10. They knew everything there ever was to know about Kansas City.

    Except how to enjoy it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. If you think the process to build KCI was bad just wait. There is no real need to move the stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The taxpayers aren’t going to pay for a new stadium, not after sLIE taxed and cheated them, there is only a handful of people that want to do this. This whole thing with the new stadium is about getting it in peoples minds so eventually they will want it. Bomb them with stupid ideas long enough and people will agree to it just to shut them the hell up.

    ReplyDelete
  13. If we have to pay for people and businesses to come here what does that tell you about kc?

We have turned into a town desperate for attention, you can build whatever you want but it still doesn’t change that we are #5 for murders thanks to the murderous blacks and have the worst schools in the entire Midwest, again, thanks to the blacks. They destroy everything and we have to go broke building it back.

  14. The millennial’s will start pissing and moaning about the lights, the noise, the traffic and parking spots being taken. How’s a person gonna sleep with all this crap going on? Downtown will go empty yet again because people won’t want to put up with the mess that comes with it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 9:56 we still haven’t moved past the “picture” stage after eight years of sLIE and the best they can come up with is a warehouse with windows so.....

    ReplyDelete
  16. Putting it east of troost is a bad idea. Neither of these locations do much for me and I want downtown baseball. The site has to be walkable from the p&l or at least to some parts of downtown or else what's the point.

I always thought the parking lots to the south of crown center and to the west of liberty memorial would work. Plenty of under utilized space in a place that's already developed

    ReplyDelete
  17. You put a crap team playing in the stadium I don't give a damn how great the stadium is.

Funny how just four years ago the Royals had no trouble drawing fans to a stadium built in the 1970s. Contend and they will come see you. Suck and the fans stay away.

A new stadium might drive up attendance the first year, but winning is what brings people back for more. If they are going to stick a new stadium in a neighborhood where parking and traffic are going to be a giant mess, I ain't going through all that BS to watch a lousy team.

The K is great. Ask fans from out of town. They think the stadium is beautiful, easy to get in and out of it. The problem is with the exception of maybe 5 seasons, the Royals have sucked for 30-plus years.

  18. 25 million can’t be wrong

    ReplyDelete
  19. Those of you who weren't around when the stadium was downtown have no idea how bad that idea was. The ball parks are located in good locations leave them there.

That's the trouble with this town they try to fix what isn't broken while ignoring all that which is.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I want downtown baseball. @10:52 AM

    Well your not getting it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. People from out of town hate where the stadium is at because if there's a convention and you're staying there with no transportation from downtown to the middle of nowhere independence. There is no actual argument against downtown baseball but it's funny to see the people who are scared of parking trot out tired nonsensical arguments not based in reality.

The goal is to get people who wouldn't normally go to the stadium and with 20k people living downtown now that makes it more of a spontaneous thing for many people. Much easier to walk to a game than get on I70 and head east for 20 minutes to the middle of nowhere. Distance is a barrier. Parking is a cluster fuck out at the stadiums currently.

Downtown stadiums do increase attendance even when the teams are losing so the "hurr durr if a team wins it'll be okay" is also retarded. The Rockies are in last place in their division and fucking suck but their 5th in attendance

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^ hey dummy, the stadium is 10 minutes from downtown, not our fault if it takes you twenty minutes to get out of downtown first. I can “spontaneously” go to a game anywhere in the metro, I just have to “spontaneously” know sooner rather than last minute but then again I’ve been known to be 5 or even 15 minutes late and still enjoyed whatever event I went to. You are a lazy ass that wants to not be “inconvenienced” by having to put your phone down for more than five seconds. Piss off lazy ass bastard.

  23. Rockie mountain stoners dude, they be getting high like a mutha f*cker bitches!

    ReplyDelete
  24. 12:01 you can't back a silly ass thing you said up.

    ReplyDelete
  25. People must rember @12:01 graduated in the top 97% of his high school class.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Moving the stadium downtown so out-of-towners can see a game more easily is brilliant. I propose moving the Zoo from nowhere Swope Park downtown. And Worlds of Fun in nowhere Claycomo can move there two. After all what else are people going to to in February?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Which site of past shootings, assaults, car thefts and murders would be best for the downtown stadium?

    ReplyDelete
  28. They want to move the stadium from a site where it's generally safe to drive, park and walk into the stadium to an area where it's unsafe to take your family or leave your car unattended.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Lets spend millions to bring baseball to downtown....how about we wait until the sale of the royals is final and they FIRE Ned Yost, and the new owner starts to spend money to retain good players! I would bring Arrowhead downtown long before I would bring gay baseball downtown! But then again all the hipsters that live downtown are gay so I could be wrong on what is right, just sayin.

  30. 8:58 - Good Point!! JE Dunn is the old Pentergast, just no one wants to admit it in fear of being "wacked"

    ReplyDelete
