Of course our sources knew a lot more than the local media is going to tell us today. The back story is quite juicy and it's related to more than a bit of election drama and ongoing organized labor beef.

But more importantly, this organization continues to evolve amid rapidly changing political times, the waning influence of labor unions and new leadership at City Hall.

    1. Also curious as to the excuse. God forbid the media actually tell the truth about all the infighting and political backstabbing that happens in these local organizations. In this case, it was even too much for the FD to coverup, and that means it was pretty intense.

KC needs reform and we need to start talking about reworking these pensions or else face the bankruptcy that's coming.

  3. Both Fire AND Police are fucked up and mismanaged. The blue collar folks are great but the higher ups are corrupt as hell.

  6. 5:04 - Its because they have dues paying members who belive in their lies! Once upon a time I was a 42's member because I had to be to have the job I did, every year at election time the 42"s sent me a letter TELLING me who I had to vote for. Unions vote left, which is why MEGA companies such as Fed Ex are not union (except for their pilots) Its bubble syndrome for KCFD and KCPD employees, along with Ford, GM and the rest of the Union world, Union members are puppets and they are because thier union gets them a little bit more than most, so they suck the sweet small union dick! And what is amazing is, if you are a union member, you bitch and complain about everything union! You are monkeys in a cage that got 2 extra bananas than the non union dude. You might make better money, you might have better benifits, but at the end of the day you hate your life just as much as the 4 guys you passed on your way to work on the corner begging for money!

Just wait! after he steps down, the media will cover up why he stepped down with some shit like he has terminal cancer or the job was to stressful, family matters etc etc. You cant work for these local government services if you are of good moral turtitude, anyone who is of good moral turptitude and wants to make this city better will be asked to step down, and if they dont will end up at the bottom of the river, thats Kansas City, thats how this cowtown government works here!

  8. Probably best for the organization to get new management and new people at the Forefront. This department has been stuck in the Stone Age so far too long. They have very little accountability to the taxpayers or even elected officials because of their perceived voting strength. Now I think people are starting to see that's not true and they are just another special interest group no more or no less powerful than anybody else. And probably a lot less likely to give any candidate a lot of funding given their decline in membership and dues. They only exist to protect themselves just like any other political organization.

  9. World class city.

    Momentum.

    And then bankruptcy.

  10. There is not a single person working for the KCFD that isn’t a total chickenshit cocksucker. Fire them all.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 7:41 - This is a "fly over City" the only people that fly into here, do so for business or family! No one comes here because they heard it was a great place to visit! BBQ can be shipped worldwide, so thats not what brings people here!

  12. You people are forgetting that he only needed this amount of time to get a big bump in his retirement, he’s still young enough to get a good job at a smaller fire dept in some other town so he can get another pension from somebody else, nothing like retiring rich! Haters gonna hate!

    ReplyDelete
  13. ^^^ Great, so you're defense of him is that he's just another grifter? That sure does inspire confidence in everyone. World class hero.

^^^ No such thing as confidence when it comes to any service provided by the city government, its too bad 911 is apart of that!! Live here, if you have a medical emergency you will surley die here! If you are not from here and have medical problems dont visit Kansas City, if your medical problem blows up here, you will die here just as if you were a resident here.

  15. ^^^ ya dont call 911....call your family and say your last good byes....meanwhile KCFD tillers troll for pussy in Westport and the plaza on the tax payers dime. Hero's I tell ya!!!

  16. I don't have a problem with the KCFD. Most people who work there do it because they want to help people. It's the management and the union who ruin it and want to turn it too political.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 8:11 yes it is, that’s the only reason to move up the food chain, more money, get over it

  18. ^^^^@9:24 - There are easier jobs if you want to make money. I'd like to believe that most firefighters are dedicated to their community and want to rescue people and serve their community.

You might be FD and might be a bit touchy about the subject but you're making some horrible arguments that make most firefighters look bad. Not all of them are as politically motivated and greedy as you suggest. If you're trying to defend the guy, you're doing a shit job. I certainly hope the department has better PR than you.

    1. Actually, a lot of them are that greedy and politically motivated. The current Chief was rooting out corruption (such as overtime paid but not worked) and now he’s paying the price. Cross Local 42 and you’ll end up kicked to the curb. The City Manager won’t support you and neither will the City Council since Local 42 contributes bucks to their campaigns. Chief Reese went head to head with Tim Dupin of 42, whose trial for assault is next month (what a great guy), and Reese gets the rug pulled out from under him by his bosses. Good luck next stop, Chief. It can only go up from here.

  19. 9:49 welcome to the real world child, that’s how things are done, I spoke of one individual and you somehow managed to make it into a totally different thing, don’t like it? Stay in your safe space at umkc because you’re a pussy

  21. Doubtful we'll hear the whole story on this. There's only one comment here that makes sense, we need a newer and younger chief. Enough of the old guard.
