TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY BIKE/WALK HONCHO SWITCHES TO PART-TIME AS COUNCIL COLLEAGUES QUESTION CONFLICT THREAT BEHIND THE SCENES!!!

It's important not to forget that the Kansas City Bike Plan wants HALF-A-BILLION BUCKS worth of taxpayer support and the architect of the scheme is now a member of the city council.

However . . .

AMID CONCERN FROM COLLEAGUES, KANSAS CITY 4TH DISTRICT COUNCIL DUDE SWITCHES TO PART TIME!!! BUT IS HE STILL CONFLICTED?!?!

Here's his effort to comply with 12th & Oak ethics rules that nobody checks anyhoo . . .

"Going forward, Eric will hand off his work on public policy and advocacy to serve in a part-time capacity as our Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this new role, he will support BikeWalkKC’s leadership team in strategic planning, program design, and fund development. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2020, Eric will help us update our strategic plan and ensure BikeWalkKC is positioned for success in our second decade of redefining our streets as places for people to build a culture of active living."

To be fair, Council dude Bunch is a smart dude and he has undoubtedly studied any threat to his fledgling political career.

This post merely serves to highlight the opposition that already awaits him as he takes office.

One of his longtime critics on the council shares this insight . . .

"Unless he plans to abstain from any vote related to transit, he runs the risk of calling council decisions into question. Every decision we make is up for legal review and challenge. If he's on both sides of the issue, that could hurt us all . . ."

Meanwhile, the KC Bike Plan remains stalled and transit activists are flummoxed by the lack of federal funding for desperately needed transit projects.

Developing . . .

  2. I don't know about conflicts, but I do know that the ideas that have come out of BikeWalkKC are mostly wacko.

  3. Anyone on the council who supports this bike nonsense should be voted out. Just look at Armour Rd. Nuf said.

  6. Since when did conflicts of interest and insider dealing "call council decisions into question"?
THAT'S how what passes for government in KCMO actually works.
A few new faces, but the same tired old crap.
    Momentum!

  8. Of all the issues in Kansas City spending a half billion for bike and walking whatevers should be so far down the list of things needed it won't come to surface ever.

I don't know if it's necessarily a conflict but it's really a sign of how powerless the 4th District is despite the fact that we pay most of the taxes in KCMO.

    Dig very very deep, taxpayers.
There's probably not enough money in all of KCMO to fulfill these clowns' champagne dreams.
And, actually, most of the ideas are about as strong as 3.2 beer.
    Momentum!
