  1. "national shortage" of paramedics? That's a myth. There's no shortage of medics. There's a shortage of people who want to work their ass off to make less money than the guys who work on fire trucks and get paid more.

Every place I've seen crying about a "national shortage" is paying far less than they should. The reality is that the average starting wage for most places is $60k/yr for medics. The places paying in the 30s are always crying they don't have enough people. Gee, I wonder why?

  2. Sequel to A Doll's House: After Nora left, her successful and wealthy husband dated and made love to a series of incredibly beautiful women, and wondered why he did not chase Nora off long ago. As for Nora, she barely managed to eke out a living by working at a series of dirty and degrading jobs, but drifted inexorably to a life of prostitution, dying penniless at a young age.

Moral: recognize a good thing when you have it.

  3. Laughed out loud at the Lee's Summit police locker room piece on TV - all of the lockers have Master Locks. Why would that be needed unless the police are stealing from the police, right?

  4. LS police department wants all of this equipment, newest toys, etc but they seldom solve ACTUAL crime like car theft, rape, or even murder. They are damn good at giving tickets though.

If the police can't trust each other not to have locks on their lockers then that says it all!
