Tenants fear more rent hikes coming in wake of high Jackson County property tax assessments

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- There's just more than a week left for Jackson County property owners to file property tax assessment appeals. The deadline for appeals has already been extended twice, and to date, more than 30,000 appeals have been filed.

  1. Stop scrubbing the numbers. There was already 29,000 informal appeals a month ago and 13,000 BOE appeals and still counting.

  3. Oh surely landlords who taxes doubled or tripled will be nice and pick up the tab for their renters.

  4. While it may come true that some property taxes may go up some will go down. The assessment mess in Jaxco will not play out completely until the mill levies are set and accepted by the county legislature. The new assessment is not the new tax bill.

  5. Bob the Renter who you pay your rent too8/23/19, 11:02 PM

Landlords in this cow town rob people with rents already, and if they go up due to the property tax scam in Jackson county, Evictions will be at a all time high, not landlords getting paid!

  6. ^^^ Renting is for people with bad credit! If you dont "OWN " where you live you are a LOSER, and that includes all the Millenial dumbshits that pay mortgage size rent living downtown and in the crossroads who do not understand how building equity works. (technically people who hold mortgages dont own their home until its paid off-the bank owns the home), but gives the dweller the chance to build equity and make some money while being fucked in the ass by the interest, taxes, HOA etc etc.
