KANSAS CITY ROYALS BOLDLY ANNOUNCE 'BUBBA TIME' AMID WASTED 2019!!!

Turns out this season wasn't one of "rebuilding" but instead proved to be an overwhelming disaster. And so, in order to salvage some sense of dignity and offer fans hope for the future. The home team has granted a local hero the opportunity of a lifetime.

Even better, there's real risk with this decision. The Kansas City Royals could ruin this guy's baseball future by hastening his trip to the majors and a tough entry into the big leagues threatens to destroy the guy's lifelong dream.

Or he could become the next Kansas City legend.

Either way, it's one of the few things worth watching at the K for the remainder of the season . . .

Royals to call up Bubba Starling

Comments

  1. Don't be a hater. At least this guy is doing something with his life. And getting paid millions for it.

  5. Maybe Bubba can give the Royals a spark. Not saying that he can turn around the season, but make watching them enjoyable.

Bubba was drafted in 2011, not 2018. He spent a lot of years in the minors. Maybe for good reason. If you're a No.1 pick, you normally spend maybe two years tops in the minors before your brought up. It's now or never for him. If he bombs the guy will be the Royals draft bust, another Crash Davis.

I remember when he was drafted on 810 Brian McRae said he didn't like the pick. Said Bubba was drafted because the Royals still had egg on their face for not giving Albert Pujols a shot. So they drafted this local kid in hopes he becomes an all-star and they didn't want fans to complain that they didn't give another local guy a shot.

  7. My impression of Starling is he has the misfortune of being really good at all sports but not excellent at any one. I hope he makes it in the majors though.

  10. 8:05 nailed it. There's little to no risk in ruining this guy's career, he has spent 8 years in the minors as a #1 pick. His career is in jeopardy and he probably would have been released or traded long ago if he wasn't a highly-publicized local boy first rounder. The fact that he's being touted as a "defensive" specialist tells you what his chances are, as if there is a market anywhere in MLB for a low-hitting defensive outfielder. The Royals were pushed into this decision because local sports guys kept asking about his development and probably also because John Means, who went to GEHS with Bubba, was originally drafted in the 46th round and was an All-Star this year with Baltimore. It shined a light on their incompetence.
