KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE LEADERS BLUSH AMID 18TH & VINE TWERKING CONTEST!!!

Kansas City's 18th & Vine District has been billed as an upscale destination for visitors to enjoy the legacy of local jazz  and appreciate remarkable African-American achievement and heritage.

Taxpayers have funded this effort to the tune of more than $100-MILLION over more than a generation.

However, with increased pressure to show profitability and a sustainable biz model . . .

18TH & VINE IS NOW HOME TO ONE OF THE MOST BAWDY TWERKING COMPETITIONS IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Adventurous souls can check the publicity posted video of the booty shaking competition at the The Velvet Freeze Daiquiris which is relatively new addition to the neighborhood that has benefited with from the work of Councilman Jermaine Reed who helped to relax liquor codes within the district.

Furthermore, here's a bit of flyer promo in case that video disappears. All of this CLEARLY demonstrates that the backsides of scantily-clad women shaking their butts in the air is a much more popular attraction than old school occasional visitors to the district like TKC; boring friends & relatives with insights into the virtuosity of John Coltrane.

Accordingly . . .

Here's the real question . . .

WHY SHOULD KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS KEEP FUNDING TWERKING CONTESTS?!?!

As our headline suggests, the issue was brought to our attention by East Side leaders who aren't exactly proud of the new direction taken by 18th & Vine establishments.

But this isn't just about KC's jazz party place . . . Let's not forget that equally questionable content, ass-shaking and THOT celebration regularly occurs in the P&L district that's financed by City Hall at a rate of about $15-MILLION a year.

At some point, KCMO can't keep supporting these very fun but increasingly nasty parties. Sadly, even in the light of day, the question of local entertainment district support never seems to arise for politicos during election season.

Developing . . .

  18. I have to agree with 9:58. Let them do whatever they like to make the 18th & Vine area more trashy. Maybe it will will deflect more of the Black crime from the areas where the non-criminals go. I will still stay away from the 18th & Vine area. I just wish that they'd stop wasting tax dollars on that lost cause.

  27. Looks cool to me. Let the urban neighborhood black folks have fun too. My only hope is that they can keep people from getting shot there and keep the place open, but i'm all for frozen daiquiri's and scantily clad women!

  28. There is twerking in tax subsidized P&L and Sprint Center and nobody complains.

  29. Anthropologists beware! This ritual display can be accompanied by unexpected violence on the part of intoxicated males. Often the females get into aggressive, physical confrontations over the attention of a desirable male. At some point a careless traveler allowed them firearms, and there is constant murder in their dwellings and shared spaces. Be entertained but be careful!

Says a lot about this place.

  32. Apparently none of you have ever been to New Orleans and probably haven't left your Lazy Boys since your last Grub Hub delivery. Anyhow, in historic New Orleans there is a historic district called the French Quarter. In the Quarter is Canal Street. On this street are a couple of places that have live sex shows. Canal Street has the historic Preservation Hall,a jazz establishment. There are some of the finest restaurants and hotels on Canal Street. So if there is twerking in the jazz district every now and then, so what. There are other places of great importance there that make the jazz district exactly what it's meant to be...historical.

Thank you all!! We will keep paying OUR taxes in OUR community. This was built FOR US BY US I’m sorry that racism and prejudice are still so prevalent in a society where most of the people commenting are raising their mixed grandchildren. We will continue to do what WE do and others will continue to imitate a CULTURE that you all hate so much!!
