Jackson County Desperately Seeking Jail Cash And Newspaper Helps Shift Blame For Human Rights Crisis On Jeff City

Here's a pathetic bit of rhetoric crafted at the courthouse. Some denizens of the Exec's office would have us believe that Republican legislators from the Missouri GOP super-majority are the culprits in one of the worst jail atrocities KCMO has ever witnessed. But let's not forget that an emergency report was crafted and delivered to Exec Frank White more than two years ago with even more agreement earlier this year from his own committee and he STILL hasn't done much to fix the situation but instead focuses on winning the PR game. The state of Missouri owes Jackson County almost $2 million. When will it pay up?

Karen Backues Keil is still suing the guard and the mental health counselor she says raped and sexually assaulted her at Chillicothe Correctional Center. Now the Missouri Attorney General's Office is trying to send her back there. The Missouri Department of Corrections owes counties throughout the state more than $20 million for housing inmates bound for state prison.

Did they ever solve the rape problem in Jackson county jail? The shady employees who were turning a blind eye and leaving doors unlocked?
