Can Missouri Rescue Jackson County From Property Tax Spike Crisis?!?!?

Probably not.

But locals crawling toward Jeff City to beg the GOP majority for help might just be a sign of how desperate the situation has become in this Democratic Party dominated town that's going to have a lot fewer homeowners by the end of the year.

And so we gather just a few more news items on this ongoing scandal . . .

Here's how to win your property assessment appeal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Some Jackson County neighborhoods were left with sticker shock when their new property assessments arrived in the mail over the weekend. That was certainly the case for Amy Robertson, who owns six properties on Tracy Avenue in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

  1. House values rose in certain areas because greedy homeowners were taking advantage of a seller's market and their asking prices inflated more than the value of the property. Don't be mad now that the County is using those values to determine taxes. How's that house in Waldo working for you now?

  2. Yep people were overpaying for houses. It was hysterical what they were paying. Waaay more than the house was worth in bad areas and even fixer uppers. This is what screwed everyone and now you pay. Most are not going to get a break if they appeal it's base on past sales. Blame a lot on the California folks that have invaded our area they think what they paid was a steal. Maybe so because of what they get in CA for that price, but not here that was the catch they didn't get.
I personally think it's funny! Glad I sold in time.
