KSHB: EPA settlement mandates street sweeping in KCMO

Deets:

In 2010, the city settled a case with the Environmental Protection Agency over Clean Water Act violations. A consent decree calls for street sweeping "at least two times annually on all streets" in the combined sewer system.

  1. Cleaning up streets also means fighting crime if you believe the broken windows theory.

The more street cleaning the better. KC is seeing way more trash on local streets. I would also encourage residents to put calls into local highway authorities and apartment complexes because they have been lax in picking up around their property. More than that, I'm seeing way more litter bugs and I thought that was a problem that was addressed in the 70s. If we all pick up our trash, that helps the entire community, I know most readers and home owners are diligent about it but the ones who fail in this task make things harder for the rest of us.

  3. Interesting that KCMO Water Services was unaware of that part of the EPA Agreement; wonder what else they aren't aware of?

  5. Give a hoot is right. Litter is a big problem in KC. I think the homeless/bum contingent is responsible for about half the litter ...

9:49 some of us are civic minded so yes we do discuss public welfare and quality of life issues such as litter cleanup. And I clean up trash in my neighborhood sometimes. Do you?

  6. ^^hahahaha! Civic minded? Public Welfare??? On here? With the degenerate racist & misogynistic scum that regularly call for the extermination of different races who call this blog home? Bitch please! Hahahahahaha. Thanks for the laugh!!!!

  7. Another event the city tried to "sweep" under the carpet and got caught on. Shame on them and you know this isn't the only thing they are probably in violation of not doing as they should be.
